A Witch's Tale

released on Oct 13, 2009

A young witch-in-training named Liddell unleashes an ancient evil known as the Eld Witch while searching for powerful magic. The Eld Witch plunges the world into chaos with her monstrous forces, so Liddell, with the help of her vampire companion Loue, sets off to make things right. Players draw magical runes to combat the creatures they encounter in turn-based RPG battles with status effects and elements to consider. Along the way through these fairy tale kingdoms, Liddell receives help in battle from magical dolls she collects. Exploring dungeons and solving puzzles brings her closer to ridding the kingdoms of the curse of the Eld Witch, but she must take care of her dolls assistants along the way to ensure they can help her in combat.

Basically everything except the actual gameplay is great. Amazing visuals and music for the DS, seriously. But once you get your first special attack the game is hilariously basic other than a few puzzles.

My favorite "twisted" Alice in Wonderland, if only for the fact that Liddell is nothing like Alice. The first ending terrified me as a child. The second/"true" one made me cry.

Despite crappy reviews, I really liked art style, soundtrack & ambiance. Yes gameplay isn't the greatest but haven't played games that have this atmosphere so really liked it!

A Mid's Tale (el gameplay es inexistente y para sacarte toda la historia tienes que hacer el NG+)

The music and vibe? Stellar. The gameplay? Yeah no.

Also why do stories like this always need to be so fast paced? I know how painfully boring an opening to a game can be if it's slow paced but when something goes too fast then it takes me out of immersion because shit goes from 1 to 100 immediately. Like I go from a school girl to suddenly needing to save the world?
