If you look behind all the controversy around this game, you will find out how truly great this game really is.

I thought this game would be a cringe one once I saw the trailers. All those weird Soviet music and strange style... And also I've heard a lot bad things about the proccess of Atomic Heart development. But once it was out my friends told me something like "hey, it's not that bad, you should try it". And well, honestly, once you play the game all those parts I though would be cringe do work together as a whole and create some kind of atmosphere of Bioshock in USSR. It's definitely not a bad game and I liked it, there are some interesting ideas and all, I like shooting and exploring the world (though it's not really open). Some people say this game supports USSR, tyranny or utopia, but hey, you haven't complete the game. It's about disadvantages of tyranny, anti-utopia and how USSR fell apart, but for a different reason. What I don't like is system of random looting from chests. I only found AK in the end of the game suffering from the lack of ammo for my handgun and shotgun. Seriously, other people get AK after reaching the surface. I opened every chest in the game, found tons of ammo for AK, but not the weapon itself until I reached the theatre. It made my game a bit harder, though it's not really hard in general despite the way game begins makes you think it is. The bosses are... well, mostly not bosses at all. The game has 6 'bosses', only 3 of them are original ones (others are just versions of regular mobs and/or can be found again elsewhere) and only the first one is interesting, because the last two are easy to spam with rocket launcher or railgun. In the end I would like to see what they will do with the sequel and I recommend you to give this one a chance.

I was extremely looking forward to Atomic Heart because it looked like a game like Bioshock in 1950s alternative Russia. That's more or less what it is. The retro-futuristic aesthetics Are beautiful and the world itself seems coherent. I really liked everything about the gameplay, it plays smoothly and the battles are massive. The main character was the biggest problem for me because he plays dumb all the time. But the story becomes very exciting towards the end and for a Double A game it is also neatly staged. However, I missed a few more abilities and the open world is a joke. Only scenery, nothing to discover. In addition, it is sometimes too close to Bioshock, but then not as clever and good.

Really really mid game, and I actually had expectations for it!

Issa Soviet Bioshock
+ the game is free on Xbox Gamepass, so definitely a recommendation.
