From the makers of the Guilty Gear series of fighting games comes Battle Fantasia, a 2D fighter with lively 3D backgrounds, cel-shaded graphics, and fantasy-themed characters. In addition to traditional Arcade, Versus, Time Attack, and Practice modes, Battle Fantasia also features a Story mode that provides RPG-style dialogue and detailed information about the lives of each of the ten main fighters. Gamers must learn to master counterattacks and the energy-gauge depleting Heat mode in order to advance through scenarios and unlock hidden illustrations, but those simply looking for a quick battle can also head online for head-to-head matches against a friend.

Very underrated ArcSys fighter. Has a lot of fun character designs and charm.

arcsys signed a deal with god that said they weren't allowed to make a bad fighting game and they still keep that promise to this day. legitimately think this might be one of the best beginner fighting games. it's mechanics are deep enough to keep fighting game fans interested, but still leagues more approachable than something like a SF (the parry mechanic might be a good introduction to third strike for new players tbh). i love it! can't believe how many of these ps360 fighting games i missed out on.

This game is super charming. The characters seem like normal fantasy archetypes on the surface but are just different enough to keep things interesting. Like how the wise wizard master is a rabbit or how the young knight protagonist has a chainsaw. Also this was one of the first arcsys games that was more focused on having good neutral and shorter combos which is a nice change of pace from the usual blazblue and other anime fighters we’re used to from them.

Has a pretty neat cast of characters, unfortunately, the gameplay is pretty mediocre and the story isn't the most interesting.
