Blood II: The Chosen

released on Oct 31, 1998

In a time of turmoil and decay, a dark organization with a sinister agenda casts its shadow over the world. But as their plot unfolds, an even greater evil pushes its twisted being at the very bindings of reality... Filled with hate and vengeance, Caleb has returned to face the Cabal and its minions once again - and this time he's not alone. Can he hold the Chosen together long enough to reclaim the Cabal and the heart of his one true love? Or will his actions destroy them all? Blood started it all with its blend of terrifying monsters, powerful weapons, fast-paced multiplayer action, and enough macabre humor to get a mummy cackling. Blood II: The Chosen improves upon the realm of Blood by combining a cutting-edge 3D game engine, horrifyingly nightmarish creatures from another dimension, and more blood than Blood.

This shit sucks and it doesn't even work.

I played as much of this game as I could bare, which was about 20 minutes, and that's not including the maybe 10 or 15 minutes it took for me to even get the game running. Not at all worth anybody's time. The game doesn't work on modern operating systems, and even when you can cheat it into working it's just a soulless husk in the shadow of a sadly overlooked masterpiece. Not worth your time or money. Play Death Wish.

Ugly, cringe, amateurish, and insulting to anybody who ever played and enjoyed its predecessor. Oh, and it runs like shit.

Normal difficulty is an utterly impossible hitscanner nightmare where you will be shredded instanteously upon rounding any corner, and on easy difficulty all enemies do 1 damage and your weakest gun instagibs any normal mook. They thought that made sense.

This has to be the nadir of early-3D shooters, or close to it. I find it extremely difficult to believe that DAIKATANA is worse than this.

Horrible.

On easy the game feel's pointless, but on normal the game is just unfair piece of shit that is no fun to play after the beginning. Enemies basically have wallhack and are there waiting to kill you in seconds, but some of the enemies themselves are awful bullet sponges and the game keeps placing you in situation's where there's not much room to maneuver, so frustration ensues.

Gunplay in general isn't very satisfying because it feel's like the gun's don't have much impact and the weapons aren't all that interesting. It doesn't help that level's are for the most part on the duller side (sewers and that sort of crap) and many of the enemies are just annoying.

And just like another user said, the game is hard to get running on modern hardware and the game kept just freezing on me and forcing to change settings, so that I could get pass some of the problematic sections.

So don't try to get this garbage running, because it simply isn't worth the effort. At least the game was short and with little bit of cheating It can be completed in 4-6 hours on normal.

-Wow I can't wait to play the sequel to one of the greatest fps games of all time; I hope it's as charming, enjoyable, and well made as the first game...
