Loved the scene where she woke up, grabbed a brush and put makeup on. Too bad she left the keys on the table, though

northeastern ohio through the lens of someone not from there which is rlly fascinating to me..theresa duncan creates an image of a place altogether foreign to her in the same way the children in the story dream of nyc or paris. it does not need or even want to be realistic in any sense. it’s a vague impression of how a place like cortland might look and sound and it’s place that’s altogether inspired by and created by a collection of artists from all over america,, that’s cute !

Chop Suey was like playing that lost childhood game that I always meant to play and finally being able to as an adult. When I was nearing the end of my playthrough, I made sure to revisit certain moments that I enjoyed and listening to that tune again from that familiar scenery, I got emotional and when I quit the game and the credits played, I got emotional once more. That an obscure children's game for girls from the 90s was able to give me a fleeting, yet magical experience at a time where my life feels like a living hell, I'm going to cherish it with all my being. I must thank Theresa Duncan and company for giving a girl a semblance of pure joy, even for this brief moment in time.

Beauty in the little knick-knacks, the cute flora and vignettes of yesteryears. True, complete, warmth in the little stops made, flights through memory to profusely loving stories!! Want to turn back time to where I made my first steps in life with these earnest wings guiding me, but I'll settle for tearful solace filling this hole embracing this work. What an incredible world we can make and stories to tell just by looking through our small beady eyes at our collective town's paraphernalia and souvenirs. Love life.

surreale che sta roba sia stata pensata per le ragazzine di 7-12 anni degli anni 90

“Mademoiselle, your life will be a crazy carnival, filled with laughter, luck, and life’s lovely lunacies...”

Theresa Duncan and co.’s lens with which to see the beauty of the world. Meets children at their level with their curiosity and does not go any lower. Love love love the writing here (and the narration, thanks David!), giving children beautiful prose to study and understand as they piece together this world. That’s a didactic view of course, but sans that even, the world still feels so descriptively penned. Also, aggressively 90s with its fuzzy guitar, pig-latin jokes, and (oddly popular) pastiche of beatnik culture.

Warms my gnarled heart that Fugazi and Nation of Ulysses alumni embraced this project with the care needed. It shows, truly.
