Famicom Wars

released on Aug 12, 1988

Famicom Wars is a Japanese-only video game for the Famicom (the Japanese name for the NES). It was designed by Nintendo R&D1 and programmed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. It spawned many sequels, five of which were released in America. It is the first game in the Nintendo Wars series. The gameplay can be compared to games in the Fire Emblem series, as both are in the turn based strategy genre, and both have been developed and published by the same companies (the Famicom Wars series was released first, however).

lmao
Beat one map at round 52.

Never again.

I was stuck at the Triangle map at a terrible stalemate. I decided to look the map up on youtube to see how long it would take to beat it properly and uhhh
The first playthrough of the map I found lasts 6 hours across 3 videos

Game Review - by Spinner 8

This is a pretty neat little game.. Well, from what I played anyway. I screwed up and made both players me, so I easily won. Still, it’s a [system] Wars game, and while they can’t all be as brilliant as Advance Wars, they pretty much all play the same. Except (wraith) doesn’t like em.

kinda useless to replay now with how much slower the ai, menu-ing and other qol is. that said, very impressive they nailed basically every staple mechanic that would continue into the sequels.

I've never actually played more than like 5 hours of any Wars game. I'm a fraud.
