the thug aliens are kind of goated

music is like music to my ears :-))

lowk shocked by the amount of low ratings this has. def doesn’t do anything crazy or that new but it’s rlly cute and a nice little vibe piece. like maybe if I fully committed my time and attention to this I wouldn’t like it quite as much but idk was just watching hbo and hanging out w my bf while exploring in this game. I also just rlly like things that are this calm and still and relaxed, definite vibe, esp considering how little interactivity there is in this, perfect for just chilling out and having on to fuck around w while exploring. wish more games that def took inspiration from this (chibi robo/gregory horror show) were more loose and free with their aspirations and mechanics. just lots of fun to explore smth this creative and see cute polygonal creatures and worlds.

that poster is sex also

Really early 3D games, especially exploration-based ones, have always kind of fascinated me. They (often unintentionally, due to limitations) balance cold, primitive graphics with an ethereal and inviting atmosphere. Sometimes they can be really trippy or downright freaky on the other hand. Sometimes they can be hilarious due to poor controls or choppy framerates. Whatever the case, a lot of PS1-era stuff in this ilk has a really interesting vibe to it. I definitely want to check out more 5th gen stuff, especially like this. I've kinda exhausted the Genesis library by now.

I learned of Gaball Screen in particular through the Classics of Game playlist, a staple of watch parties with my friends. The mastermind behind it is Tetsuya Komuro, a musician and record producer who apparently was arrested for fraud in 2008. The goal is to "build" songs piece-by-piece by collecting CDs, which can be found by interacting with all sorts of bizarre surroundings. When you finish a song, you unlock a little music video for it and then move onto another. There are 7 songs total for about a 1-2 hour playthrough.

For me personally, it brings more well known games such as LSD: Dream Emulator and Yume Nikki to mind. Would definitely check this out if you're a fan of those, especially the former.
