It's a wonder that a small indie studio can make a game with this much soul. And a surprisingly deep story with a great ending.
It's adorable, it's therapeutic, it's...a rhythm game, sometimes! Randomly! Very interesting choice for a 3D platformer to have rhythm boss battles, but hey, it works. They could be better implemented, but it doesn't take away from the feel of the game.
The manga-style cutscenes is a unique way of storytelling that I enjoyed a lot.

The weakest part of the game is the dungeons, mostly because of the occasionally wonky controls. In some ways the game is a bit unrefined, but all the passion it exudes makes anything negative about it not much more than an afterthought.

Its a fairly short adventure game with small puzzles and a decent rhythm mini game, but the story gets fairly deep and it caught me off guard. I very much enjoyed exploring to finish all the achievements by getting collectables and doing small hidden tasks.

This is one of those love it or hate it type of games, not likely too many people in between. Not exactly a platformer, nor is it really a puzzle solver or even an adventure game. The best description without spoiling the experience is to call it story-based exploration of an island that feels very much like an anime version of the Wizard of Oz. The game begins with Annika, a half-human / half-feline girl awakening on a mysterious island with no recollection of how she got there. She quickly meets up with a boy named Giraffe, who explains that he’s trying to collect three star fragments and needs the help of Annika to do so. The pair sets out exploring the island unlocking new areas and abilities while attempting to find the fragments before a mysterious witch is able to collect them first. The evolution of the story as you meet fun and interesting characters overshadows much of the shortcomings, like the lack of challenge and somewhat disappointing dungeon sequences. The animation is a bit strange so if you get easily motion sick, best to avoid this game. Full review: https://thethirstymage.com/2020/08/21/giraffe-and-annika-nintendo-switch-review/

This game is so cute. I loved the story, exploring the island, and the boss battles. The game isn't too long, and you can definitely tell that a lot of love went into making this game.

amidst all the gameplay quirks and missions that had me groaning, I can't bring myself to dislike Giraffe and Annika. I don't think I'd dislike it even if I actively hated how it plays. it's got a very kind sense of adventure and whimsy to it that I admire. exploring the game's massive island hub world to get to that next cute little story cutscene or find a hidden path was a heartening experience. I had this game on my radar basically since it released and I'm glad I finally got to it during a time where I could actually appreciate it for what it is.

This game feels like a trip to the countryside on a summer vacation. It's not particularly deep and it can feel a little boring, but this game has incredibly amounts of charm and comfiness.
