A competently built Zeldalike but the bumpy nature of the combat didn’t interest me.

Gurumin was essentially my introduction to the company known as "Falcom", whom are known for the Trails/Kiseki and Ys.
I saw the game on sale on day back around 2017 on the 3DS eshop and thought "Well it looks interesting enough to buy".

So I ended up purchasing the game and playing Gurumin for a few hours before dropping after the first boss since I didn't know how to progress through the first wood level when there was a obvious entrance to progress.
Yeah I know. I was a complete dumbass back in the day to not realize this shit.

But otherwise, I decided to finally finish Gurumin to completion via unlocking the true ending and it was pretty alright.

I found the combat, stage design, the story, and the soundtrack to be pretty enjoyable since the game gave off a "Alice in wonderland" feel to it, especially with the monster designs like Pino. It was also pretty neat in how healing items were actually deserts like shortcake, cookies, and chocolate than the typical potion or home-cooked food.

The game was pretty much like this until I beaten the final boss for the first time and I was suddenly greeted with the message of "You didn't exactly unlock the true ending! Keep playing some more!" And oh boy, this is basically when the game begins to get shitty.

So in order to unlock the true ending you basically need to acquire every single missing furniture and give it the monsters by completing the extra stages. Seems simple enough, right? More neat levels to play with unique environments? Nope.
These extra levels are literally the same stages you already beaten before, but this time in reverse with some new enemies. That's it, nothing else.
It ends up feeling like mere padding to drag stuff out than actually adding more to the game.

Also the requirements to unlock the entrances to the extra levels are bullshit. One asks you for specifically "666" gold while the other asks you to lit all torches without breaking it, which is more easy than said. I kept accidently breaking the torches despite trying desperately to not do so, making me start all over again.
I don't know why Falcom had to do this shit when the game would have honestly been better without these extra levels.

But either way, the game is pretty enjoyable and would consider it one of Falcom better titles.

Gurumin is a solid and charming 3D platformer with a fair share of problems, repetitive levels and janky controls.

I think this was my first Falcom game. I'm going to blame it for my crippling Ys addiction.

picked up the game on steam and got around a third of the way through before switching to the 3ds ver. it runs worse as expected but i found it more fitting for the 3ds. the game is very cute all around

Captivating world a fun and interesting story Parin is a cute girl her art style is cute but very simple, when I played figuei nonstop it was so much fun it was from start to finish I still intend to play again in the future it has huge replay!
