By far the best chapter (so far)

Gives so much depth to basically every character bar Sakoto (sorry, you're still great though) but especially to Rena which is great since she's kinda been in the background for ch 2 - 5. This chapter defintley cemented Rena as my favourite character Keiichi second best though I honestly love him he's great. I really ended up liking Mion alot here despite not really liking her too much the past few chapters, Rika getting more depth is always nice to see. etc etc everything is so well written and the final chapter here is the best in the series (again so far) I was hooked and the ending was mwah.

I never expected to end up liking this series so much but god damm this chapter was amazing. Also I didn't write too much here because I guess I'll do a non spoiler review here, but this chapter did so much cool stuff, and as always the music was crazyy good.

Also obligatory Steam sprites stink, use console sprites and VA with mods because that VA work is way too good just to not get included in the port.

"Ryukishi07 wrote such a long story just to tell you this. He must be a pretty poor writer."

mr. dragoon zero seven you are truly the best of us. i love you man. I actually cried during the Staff Message...

God this was such a wild fucking ride. We start with delightful shounen bullshit, we go to Rena Ryuugu Does Nothing Wrong, we get into ALIENS, and then we get back to the delightful shounen bullshit. And then there's the final punch to the gut in the tips! I thought it was gonna be alright, man!!!

Anyway, I really did love getting to see the different perspectives of the different characters, especially Rena. I don't know, man, I haven't gone through the same shit as her, but I definitely felt the descriptions of her anxiety and depression early on, you know? It was nice to have an actually empathetic look at a character like her once things got extremely bad, too. She was just Going Through It, man.

It's also great to watch the presentation evolve as the series progresses, too. The sound design has always been great, even before getting a fantastic composer on board for Kai, but it's nice to see the cinematic qualities being polished as well. I'm playing through vanilla with original sprites, and I'm sure mods with voice acting and less amateurish art add a lot, but it's fun to see an artist's craft evolve, you know?

(I did find it funny that last chapter Ryukishi was like "I was interested in the responses to Keiichi murdering Teppei. What if he'd decided to turn his life around?" and then he does this chapter and proves that actually lmao Teppei did deserve it, lmao)

Anyway I've been having a fantastic time with this series. I'm not really sure how I'm going to rank these chapters at the end, because this was a pretty wild swerve from Meakashi, lmao. I thought the intro description about this being a less serious chapter was ironic when the murders started, but it was actually an accurate description...

The only thing I can complain about... is Angel Mort. when will we move past the need for weird otaku bullshit....

This review contains spoilers

If Yakuza and Higurashi chapter 6 showed me anything, it's the fact that I'll need to find myself a friend good enough to fight me to death on a rooftop.

Sheep Counts

Going into this from chapter 5 I was expecting another 'Alternate POV' retelling. Whilst I like chapter 5, I felt that it was ultimately on the predictable side of things. Luckily chapter 6 goes its own way, and tells its own story whilst not missing out on answering questions that were had prior.

Night When the Invisible Scares You

Teetering on the edge of truths, untruths and paranoia, the story woven here embraces the strongest aspect of its main counterpiece, Onikakushi. What is real? What can be trusted? Does the truth lie in cult? curse? something more? something less? something inbetween? Both rewarding and discouraging in the hunt for answers, the characters' alliances keep you guessing as more information becomes apparent.

Wandering Words Lead to Heaven

Throughout this entry of the series Keiichi and Rena grew on me a lot. I already really liked Keiichi as a protagonist I 'get', and this chapter further solidified that. Rena is a character I also deeply adore, and she proved herself to be the strongest supporting cast member to me in this chapter. Any scene where they share their spotlight together can blow almost anything else in the series out of the water. The final scene is easily the strongest part of the series so far, and I am very curious if Ryukishi will manage to top it in the remaining chapters.

I'll put some trust in the answers.

this is the story of how rena ryuuguu did her best, but no one belived in her and keiichi ruined everything (i hate him so much)
