When the end of the world comes, what will you be doing? Cooking breakfast? Driving home? Writing a letter? Will you even know it's coming?

Intercontinental is about the final, agonizing minutes of civilization, and you've got the best seat in the house. It's minimalist but tense, with the whole experience carrying a rare urgency I haven't felt from a game in a long time.

a pretty creative take on the typing genre? as a slow and very poor typist this accomplished its job well in keeping up the tension but I wonder how if would go for people who type much faster

Intercontinental is ostensibly just a typing game, clocked in the wrappings of an apocalypse-eve event wherein you're talking with friends from your bunker while waiting for the world to end.

It's deeply human. It's sweet. It's a little heart-wrenching. It also feels remarkably prescient? Published in Nov. 2017, it feels like it stepped right out of COVID self-isolation malaise, to the point where I was genuinely shocked to learn it had been published on here nearly 2.5 years prior to lockdowns starting.

It's also only like, 10 minutes, so you should really check it out

So simple but it literally made me cry!

I think when you're faced with your own imminent death, you default to either spilling everything you wanted to say but couldn't for some reason or other, or you hold conversations as normally as you possibly can, under the circumstances. Both are because you're afraid of what comes after, and the chance that you'll never get to do either of them again. There is unique intimacy in sending your friends "the lighting down here is awful" and getting various responses of "yep" "yeah dude" "i can't even see the fucking keyboard" etc.

See you soon.
