This game was generic, bland, unimaginative and repetitive cover shooter against generic clone enemies, but it still wasn't a big hit, witch was a great surprise. Main character was basically the same dude as in almost every other game at the time. This game had one creative thing going: an inversion mechanic that allowed you to flip the world upside down, but it was not utilized enough to make this game any special or to make it stand out.

Technical problems aside, I had a pretty good time with Inversion. Out of all the firth person sci-fi military shooters I've played, this one wears its influence (that being Gears of War) openly the most. Staying behind cover and inching forward after each wave of enemy is cleared is essential to surviving in this game since you can get taken out in a matter of seconds from enemy fire, sometimes even when you're hiding behind pillars and barricades.

There's far too many cutscenes and reused bosses, but the gravity powers are neat. Being able to grab enemies and smash them into the ground or throw them back at each other is a lot of fun. I especially liked the gasoline bubbles, even if they are just another form of exploding barrel. I didn't find the heavy power to be very useful beyond the occasional instance of using it for puzzle solving or creating new cover to hide behind.

Inversion is like if someone turned those fake video games you see in TV shows and movies into a real video game. It’s Great Value Gears of War whose only distinguishing feature is its genuinely insane plot twists.

To be honest, it has a mediocre story and terrible graphics that look very dated now, but the gravity mechanic and the fact that almost everything around you in the game is destructible can make the gameplay interesting. Inversion could be the ancestor of Control for this reason. It's only because of the presence of these two mechanics in the gameplay that I keep playing, otherwise someone who doesn't find them interesting can spend their time on better games. So it's not a game I would recommend you to play. I have a lot of free time so I play old games.

It's just the gravity gun but worse

So funny thing about this is, if you're looking to play this physically on ps3 it's a $15-$20 game which i see going up in the future which is kinda crazy.

Anyway this game sucks. It's got an interesting game mechanic with the "𝘐𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯" of gravity but it's emplimented pretty poorly. Sometimes enemies can shoot u BEHIND cover, there's other times where the controls are unresponsive during the floating sections and u fly into an enemy or fly off the stage and die. There's a lot of things about this game that I simply forgot because I honestly did not have a good time with it and beat it for the sake of beating it.
