The other contender for my favourite Lego game. The gameplay and story are fantastic.

Probably one of the coolest and most unique lego games, a entertaining cop story set in a goofy world. Lego games really are a unique bunch.

The LEGO game that I was the least endeared by due to how grounded all of the mechanics felt compared to literally any one of the other LEGO Star Wars-styled games which, while fun when playing casually, consequently made 100-percenting it a bit of a chore. At least the story's pretty amusing.

Also, side tangent: It's really unfortunate that Chase McCain's lover (I forgot her name) didn't get as much screen time and plot relevance as I'd hoped she would get. The way she decided to do things on her own without Chase at a few points in the story and her one single idle animation where she accidentally stabs herself in the foot with a syringe made her WAY more endearing than I would have ever expected.

I always wondered why the Lego games were never their own thing, like why they were always connected to another IP like Batman or Star Wars. This game told me why.

Not hugely into the LEGO games other than LEGO Jurassic World, but this was a pleasant surprise. It's a GTA-clone bringing to mind family-orientated predecessor Simpsons Hit & Run, but unlike that game (and even many other LEGO games), this has its own original story. Lots of the story beats riff off other action-adventure and/or crime films and it's written very well. Genuinely humourous too. I can't recall when I've laughed out loud this much playing a game.

It's standard LEGO game gameplay of using different character types to puzzle and combat your way through the story. It's fairly rewarding but simplistic. The driving is decent if not a little sluggish. Probably let down the most really by its very lacklustre soundtrack. Very boring and repetitive, and I think the inclusion of a radio, with instrumental tracks, could have been a really great addition.
