Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

released on Dec 21, 2006
by Capcom

The game is played through a third person over-the-shoulder view. Players are allowed to switch between first person and third person at any moment. Players either travel on foot or ride various types of mechanized suits called Vital Suits (VSs). VSs carry heavy weapons such as chainguns and rocket launchers. They can pick up weapons lying on the ground and fire multiple weapons at once. On foot, players are able to use a grappling hook to pull themselves up to normally hard-to-reach places, or to hook onto a VS and hijack it. Driving VSs and using certain weapons requires thermal energy. Also, the planet's cold temperature causes the characters' thermal energy level to continually decrease. Players can replenish their thermal energy level by defeating enemies or activating data posts. Data posts also allow players to use their navigational radars to see incoming enemies. Each of the 11 levels is accompanied by a boss, which can be either a VS or a large Akrid.

Yes, the gameplay can feel clunky and repetitive at times. The storyline appears somewhat messy, and the characters lack depth. However, despite these flaws, I consider this game to be a diamond in the rough. The gameplay itself is genuinely enjoyable, despite its occasional clunkiness. Fighting giant space insects and shooting their giant yellow zits is surprisingly satisfying. In summary, Lost Planet evokes that classic 2000 Capcom essence. It's definitely worth a try if you're in that kinda of vibe.

Was pretty rough to play with its clunky controls back then and still is now. I liked the overall atmosphere this game had though.

Tem umas batalhas contra Boss horríveis, principalmente a ultima

This game was kind of fun with friends but super clunky. There's some parts of the game that are still used in modern games so its definitely important. I just have a hard time caring, myself.

This game is living proof that grappling hooks will always be fun and shooting off weak points from giant aliens never gets old or boring.
