Mega Man Legacy Collection 2

released on Aug 08, 2017

A compilation of four timeless adventures in one package, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 features the most recent entries in the classic side-scrolling series. The collection also includes a Museum jam-packed with history and production art, challenge remix stages for long-time fans, and first-timer friendly options like added armour and checkpoint saves for easy reload. Journey through the later entries in the series with these four titles: Mega Man 7 introduced mysterious rival Bass and his companion Treble, while Mega Man 8 featured the series’ first impressively animated and fully voiced cutscenes; Mega Man 9 marked the series’ return to its roots with 8-bit visuals, music, and gameplay; Mega Man 10 retained these features and included three playable character options.

Using the Switch version, played all four games, finished each one. Got 90.5% of the challenges (A Rank) on Mega Man 10, and I intend to complete 100% of the challenges on Mega Man 9 someday, but Mr. Perfect is making that difficult to achieve. I will not be returning to the extra challenges for any of the four games—they are fine for bonus content's sake, but ultimately not worth the effort.

Also, while the omission of Mega Man & Bass (8.5, if you will) was initially disappointing, I'm coming to find that the game is not very good, so no big loss there, I guess.

Has the best two classic games on here (7 and 9) so it's automatically kino.
Minus half a star for the lack of Mega Man & Bass.

for the games it compiles, it's near-definitive (mega man 8's saturn version content being the only glaring omission) but it could've done with a few more games, as even if the goal was to focus on exclusively the numbered entries, the DLCs for Mega Man 10 lack context without having played the Game Boy's Mega Man World titles, and Mega Man 9 directly references Mega Man & Bass.

Japanese dub for Mega Man 8 would have been nice, but beside that it's the best way to get the rest from 7 to 10 (thankfully including DLCs, thank you Capcom very cool).
