Mega Man X Collection

released on Jan 10, 2006

Mega Man X Collection contains the first six games in the Mega Man X series. Mega Man X and Mega Man X2 are based on their appearances on the SNES. Mega Man X3, also originally on the SNES, is based on its 32-bit update for the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and PC. The remaining three games are based on their PlayStation renditions. All the games now use save files, including the first few titles that originally necessitated a password for continuation, though upon loading save data, the player is still greeted with the old, fully-functional password entry screen, complete with the correct password to access the saved game. Mega Man Battle & Chase is a game that is unlocked after completing the first three games. It is a classic series kart-racing game previously unreleased in North America. Mega Man X Collection also contains unlockable artwork and music.

Played the GameCube version and cleared Mega Man X1, started X2 but did not finish. I later returned to X2 and moved on to X3 and X4, but this was done using the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2 bundle on Switch. As I no longer need this collection, I have no plans to return to it, even with the bonus Mega Man Battle & Chase as an incentive.

Is it me or the PS2 version has some serious input lag? It made the experience really awful. If I'll ever retry I'll do it with another Dualshock controller and very likely change the review after.

Anyway: this collection is worth since it has the PS1/Sega Saturn version of X3 and Mega Man Battle & Chase unlockable (for some reasons).

The button mapping is actually so annoying how tf did people play this on the GameCube version

It’s not a bad collection (though I wish they used the SNES version of X3 as opposed to the 32-but version that should have just come free with X4 when that came out), but I have this at two stars (regret) because I have the GC version and I always thought the PS2 port would handle much better, since the PlayStation controller always felt more intuitive for these games.

Made obsolete by the X Legacy Collection that came out a few years ago, but still interesting for the PSX/Saturn version of X3 and the unlockable Battle & Chase.

This is how I played the X Games originally. This is a nice collection but it doesn't really have any interessting extra content. But does however have Battle & Chase. I have no Idea why Capcom thought that it would belong in a X Collection but still nice to have
