you know jrpg fans are getting too big for their britches when they're ragging on the combat here. my friends, you guys don't got a leg to stand on; you play Press Turn games and think you're general patton; you select Attack for 60 hours and find it stimulating on a regular basis. I don't wanna hear a word about how you're too good for a little Rock Paper Scissors
jokes aside, I thought this thing was pretty dang charming. didn't play it hands on but watched my partner for the majority of their playthrough and helped out here and there. my most valuable contribution was turning the final boss fight into an AMV ft. tomahawk but there was enough engagement throughout that I feel like I had the greenlight to put my two cents in
very faithful, very loving translation of the modern MH loop into a breezy turn based JRPG. considering how different the fundamentals of the two genres are I think they did a really good job bridging the gap and opening it up to a new audience while keeping the bits that make it unmistakably Monster Hunter in tact. it's not the richest experience in the world, but much like other balmy jrpgs like Dragon Quest it doesn't really need to be
also, I like navirou and you literally can't stop me. have you seen his dumb little face? sorry, that shit's funny
also, it has the best artstyle in the series
and you know what?

monstie's my favourite word
So much more content unlocks after story. Have hundreds of hours in and am still playing.
would totally recommend to someone like me who oooooh'd and aaaah'd watching other people around you play world & rise but were immediately overwhelmed upon trying the rise demo & thought you were just too dopey to ever experience this universe on your own
wings of ruin gives you all of the colour, wonder & goofy charm that monster hunter typically has on offer with a turn-based style that's much more my speed and i truly think this was the perfect entry point into the series for me
beat the story recently with the homies Drusilla, Ratha, BIG PURP, Diamond, lil nazir and Blaster and i hope to see them again in mhs3

As far as modern JRPGs go, this is a very good one. You have to get past the first like hour of the game but then it really gets rolling. It has a relatively simple story and doesn't try to be anything that it's not. The combat rules, the atmosphere is great, there's nothing to complain about for the monster designs.
Two things hold this game back from a full five star rating:
- The dungeon design is adequate at first, but very quickly becomes repetitive. This isn't a problem for the seemingly procedurally generated monster dens, but it gets really bad when you start to recognize the same common parts of dungeon layouts over and over again in actually important areas.
- There are a couple of parts which feel like filler/padding content. This game is good at avoiding the "midgame slump", but the fetch questing segment in Loloska and the Glavenus/Glacial Agnaktor/Bazelgeuse fight section near the end feel like the result of "oh no these segments are too short, we need something to space them out!"

But ultimately, they don't hold the game back much. It's easier to talk about bullet points on "room for improvement" than the sheer amount of enjoyment I got from this game. It's just good fun all the way through and the combat system and monster party system keep it fresh pretty much all the way through. Highly recommend this game.
One of the best turn-based monster hunter games I've ever played. Played the demo first and I had to go pick up the game.
muito facil, porém divertido!
