Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword

released on May 03, 2011

In an open sand box world you choose your allies, your enemies, what provinces to conquer, what castles to siege and what quests to embark on. With Fire and Sword builds and expands upon the highly regarded combat system from Mount & Blade: Warband. Firearms have been introduced to the battlefield. Additionally, muskets and pistols can now be used as sidearms in hand-to-hand combat to quickly drop your foes. In addition to the enhanced singleplayer mode, With Fire & Sword also provides a host of original multiplayer content including the new game mode: Captain.

Legendary game. It’s very cool to play for Rus', there are few games where you can play for the Zaporozhye Cossack army.

Mount & Blade's formula is great in most settings, and this is no exception. Anyone interested in the time period, the other games, or just like the idea of this type of RPG should get it! But it isn't my preferred Mount & Blade.

Played it a lot since i love Mount and Blade and i LOVE the time period the game's set on, it does most things pretty well, but it has a lot of bugs, especially in the questlines, and since it's based on the original M&B instead of Warband, you can't build your own kingdom without completing one of two very specific questlines that can be bugged and screw you over through no fault of your own. Also no real modding community compared to Warband.
Oh, and the guns are too innacurate! I still played it and had fun, but at the end of the day, the setting is the main draw, for everything else you go to Warband.

It's janky and it's certainly a weird choice to adapt a polish book series as a video game using the mount and blade mechanics, but early modern period Eastern Europe (or indeed, the early modern period in general) doesn't get a lot of love in video games, so I'll take it.

With Fire & Sword makes you feel like you live in the 17th century and you decide your own destiny. It promises a unique experience for every player with the journeys you go through, the people you meet and the battles you participate in.
