Like many games that start in the arcades, NFL Blitz was a cool novelty but didn't really have the depth to sustain long play sessions at home. There was the foundation of something good here, but it was never properly expanded on.

If you are looking to pick up a Blitz game, this is probably the best looking version of the classic formula (outside the delisted 2012 version).

This is the most fun I've had in any sports game ever. It stomps any madden game out there. The realistic boring gameplay that takes forever in madden is just gone. It's quick and nonstop. You just gotta go or you will DIE. Of course this game has SO much jank. You WILL fumble for no reason, drop the free-est passes on earth, intercept random things, AI will just absolutely not help or defend whatsoever, CPU will throw to ghost recievers. This one specific time I had the ball DESPAWN after my player caught it, didn't drop it, just straight despawn. But despite all the jank, its so much damn fun. A super face-paced janky arcade football game that every football fan should try.

there's for sure some jank here, and some insane bullshit but that only adds to the hilarity and adrenaline of this game. the absurdity of how hard the hits are, the insane shit the commentators say, and the absolute bullshit the computers can pull out in a game made for an insanely unpredictable and super fun time. playing through a season of this game with a friend was genuinely the most fun i've ever had in a football game easily. i've always liked NFL blitz but the throwing controls were always the biggest friction i had and this one having button throwing improved it a lot. i'm not sure if it's the first blitz to do it, but i greatly appreciated it.

this and NFL street fuckin legendary in my house. this is absolutely the funniest football game ever we had dudes fuckin dropping elbows and sentons and shit after plays were done just for funsies. dudes were out here fillin meters and entering cheat codes and shit the dude on the start screen would announce it “NFL BLTIZ, TWENTY OH THREE”
sheer fuckin stupidity. a bygone era. miss it everyday
