bought this game and my computer couldn't run it, got a new computer for gaming and it still can't run it, i'm starting to think the game might be a bit broken

janky as hell but actually gets more enjoyable the longer i play it

At first its ugliness and being awful in general is charming. But absurd difficulty and bugs ultimately makes you regert playing this.

Tried so hard to bring back the charm of the 2nd game, but just doesn't quite land. I did like how the errands you run are for various silly characters, but the map is just way to big and getting from point A to B is a slog.

edit: UPDATE 1.3.1 IS OUT AND IT'S AMAZING. IF YOU WERE DISAPPOINTED BY THE GAME ON RELEASE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHECKING IT OUT NOW.

Hi. Longtime Postal fan here. Well, I was only born in 2005, but longtime relevant to my own life, I suppose.

The Backloggd rating and kneejerk reactions seemed to indicate my initial response to Postal 4's release was the same as many others'. Disgust. The game struck me as buggy, ugly, unsatisfying, and sloppy. So I absolutely get where y'all are coming from when you hate on Postal 4. But now that I've spent 30 hours digging into the meat of the game, I'm kind of digging everything its putting down.

Let's get this out of the way immediately: yes, all of my old complaints still apply to this game in the year of our Lord 2024. Postal 4 is a janky mess, riddled with bugs and horrid difficulty spikes. It's also an incredibly ambitious indie game whose scope goes far beyond being the "sequel to Postal 2" it was marketed as- though it's worth noting that many people complained about Postal 2 back in the day in much the same way people are complaining about Postal 4 now. Initially in my playthrough, I was trying to breeze through the days in much the same way I would in my recent runs of Postal 2. I found myself running into issues quickly, however. Attempting to speed demon my way from point to point left me feeling worn out even after just an hour or two of play. When I started taking my time, seeing the sights, vibing with the silly cutscenes, dissecting people with the fantastic arsenal of new weapons, that's when Postal 4 clicked. This is a vibrant and dense game. Shitty jokes and side content are plastered just about everywhere, now that RWS has access to a modern engine. It's arguably the best open world I've seen a game, where the copypasting is minimal (at the very least, it doesn't have more than Postal 2) and where every space feels like it was created for a reason, not to pad out game size. It's certainly better than whatever Starfield has going on. And that game has a higher rating than this!

I don't mean to get hung up over the critical reception of Postal 4. If a RWS-developed game is ever universally beloved, something has gone terribly wrong. It really sucks to see so many big Postal 2 fans shit on this game, though, when it brings so much to the table and feels like this company putting all of their effort into some weird passion project, scope creep and all. Don't let the bad performance steer you away. Postal 4 is a worthwhile, chaotic experience. While it has room to improve- parts of Thursday are nearly unplayable currently- that's much the same state that Postal 2 released in. Give this game your time and patience and it will deliver. I had so much fun. Over 30 hours of it, in fact, and I'm definitely going to be replaying this soon and going much more in depth on my time with this game in an upcoming video. IDK. Just wanted to leave my thoughts here, cuz it feels like even the highest reviews on this page are confusingly lukewarm.
