A short exploration game available free. I've played quite a few experimental shorts the last year, and I'll only add them to this thread if I recommend them. No combat or drastic puzzles, just a fun little world to inhabit for a time.

RPG Maker 2003 my beloved...

I think my biggest and only issue with this game is that the graphics are super bright, which I think gave me a headache...? But its unfortunate that it does because I love the vision here. I think it's so cool and all the little rooms are so unique and full of things to look at. I wish my house looked like this.

beautiful art, beautiful little game

Remnants is about a person going deeper and deeper into a hole, discovering remnants of the past and other mildly weird things. It creates a strong and creepy atmosphere with very little, thanks in part to the excellent execution on the sound and art design. The context bubbles the player gets when interacting with the environment create a good sense of character and also develop the game's world + narrative quite well. I love the title/name each room is given (reminds me VVVVVV). The bold and vivid colors create both an alien-like an nostalgic scenery.

While I would've wished for a more fleshed-out/fulfilling ending (or perhaps a crumpet of gameplay), I enjoyed this experience quite well.

Kinda haunting. Like it's reminiscent of something intimate and familiar and I just can't place it. Really good if you enjoy writing that I think occasionally approaches a purple-like tint (lavender?), but doesn't quite overstep.
