This game is only 20 minutes and seems like a blast to play in an arcade but If I bought this as a full priced game in 2003 during a time when Final Fantasy VII was already a $20 greatest hits game in retail I would have been pissed.

Bought this because the look (pre-rendered 3D!) and concepts at play (arcade shooter with melee combat and a magic system!) seemed interesting. I'm also a general fan of Psikyo's shooters too. Unfortunately, Sol Divide doesn't really hang with the rest of their catalogue because it kinda sucks!

A lot of the ideas in the game are woefully underutilized and it's extremely janky in ways that are occasionally fun but more often than not just irritating to deal with.

It is, however, mercifully short (<10 minutes from start to finish) and easy enough to figure out. It's a (very, very) mildly enjoyable game at best, really.
