Streets of Rogue is a top-down rogue-lite with an emphasis on player agency and freedom. It combines shooting, stealth, and role-playing elements in a procedurally generated city. Rather than taking place in a dungeon, the game is set in a functioning, procedurally generated city, where complex AI informs denizens from all walks of life, who are just trying to get by in their daily activities. In order to progress, the player will need to accomplish specific mission goals in any way they see fit through use of their special character traits, items, and the environment.

This is a pretty unique roguelite, honestly it's a pretty unique game in general with all the interactivity and possible things that can happen between you, the environment, and the NPCs. Some of the classes really shake up the way you have to play, which is pretty cool. Combat isn't anything crazy, but it's still satisfying. I got my fill of this one pretty quick even with it being a very enjoyable experience. It almost feels more like a sort of test or stepping stone to something, and seeing that a sequel is coming and that it's more of an open-world thing that feels even more the case. I'm very much interested in the sequel and seeing how it shapes up, I feel like this whole concept will thrive much more there.
Oh my god, why didn't I play this before.
I'm pretty excited to see how much they'll add to the formula on the second game.
edit: well, I got pretty excited when I first played it, but...after a few hours I realise the gameplay loop just isn't interesting enough for a game of this kind unless you screw the game up with cheats, and even then it just feels gimmicky. And the only really fun class to play with is the hacker.
