Super Sidekicks

released on Jan 14, 1992
by SNK

Published in 1993, the original Super Sidekicks (known as Tokuten Ou, "Goal-Scoring King" in Japan) was SNK's first soccer video game. It features 12 teams divided into two groups which compete for the "SNK Cup" (the main differences between teams is their formations on the field): Group A: Germany, Italy, Spain, England, Mexico, Japan Group B: Argentina, Holland, Brazil, France, United States, South Korea The players' team plays against all the others in their group, then it goes into an elimination tournament's semifinals and then the final to win the cup. There was also a hidden feature in the game, which wasn't documented, and affects a single player game. During a free kick for the CPU if the player has tapped button A for player two, the CPU performs a short-shot, while pressing the button A performs a longer kick.

VAMOOO ARGENTINA GANAMO LA COPA QATAR 2022

A sports videogame that is not a table game is simple escapism because you have to control virtual players when you could go out and move your ass, but it does have value if it can be educative in how to plan tactics (so making it as realistic as possible) or they can have stories around it like some RPGs.

Super Sidekicks embodies everything I loathe from Arcade Game design. Even when they simplify the World Championship to go straight to semifinals after group selection, it still fucks things up because the computer randomly switches players in the middle of the game, making it extremely confusing normally but impossibly infuriating when you are going to score a goal or defend one they are going to score against you, but making you spend a continue to go to penalty kicks on a tie is just the epithome of jerkass game design, specially because the computer will catch every single one you throw and score every single one they throw on the final game because of how it's programmed.

A piece of crap with high amounts of energy but still a piece of crap.

With this I have reached my goal (heh) of having 25 entries at the end of the year here in Backloggd. Happy new year everyone

No está mal para unas partidas, pero es jueguecillo de fútbol arcade.
