I had not played this game for 8 years only watching Markiplier play it back then. Now that I finally played it myself I couldn’t stop crying.

This a very basic game from a gameplay perspective, but the personal connection the creator has to it together with the real life experience the creator had made this game go from an average 5 to a great 7.5/10.

This is, fundamentally, a very personal story and attempt to grapple with an immensely tragic part of the creators' life. Grief and the loss of a child is one of those things that seems very difficult to critique as an outside observer. So I want to focus on the mouse-based controls and how clunky and frustrating they were.

This might seem like a deeply petty complaint given the subject matter, but I'd actually argue it matters quite a bit. The more time I spent being unsure if I was clicking the right spot or if I was meant to be clicking at all, the less time I was focusing on the narrative and the emotions being conveyed.

There's a point in the game where the screen went completely black and stayed there while music continued playing, eventually causing me to just skip forward via Scene Select. Was it there thematically and I'm just impatient, or was it a bug? This is sadly one of those games where I couldn't really tell.

Very touching story on a kid named Joel and the parents experience and moments during a difficult time. Very warming dialogue mixed in with heartbreaking lines that bring you back to the reality of cancer. Gameplay wise very janky however story wise - amazing. Cleverly layered hints with the battery being low on the phone and always rolling onto the horse giving the hopeless feeling of the outcome always being the same. Dehydration specifically was an incredible chapter that was jarring to sit through. Very eye opening, especially in the scene with all the cards. An intimate and emotional experience all around.

Este juego me ha hecho sentir cosas que ningún otro juego ha sido capaz de replicar
