The Legend of Dark Witch 3: Wisdom and Lunacy

released on Dec 21, 2017

The Legend of Dark Witch 3 focuses on refining the Dark Witch series' gameplay mechanics, removing many features present in The Legend of Dark Witch and The Legend of Dark Witch 2 while modifying others to create a more streamlined game. Dark Witch 3 does not feature Technical Skills or player-available Revenge Magics. Additionally, the Enhancement Gauge has been simplified to Speed, Wing, and Width, with Width functioning as a combination of the Liner and Power slots in previous games.

Why the hell did the developer decided to take what made the 2nd game good, and take all of it out? This is Dark Witch 3. The 4th game in the Dark Witch series. (I know that it says 3, but Brave Dungeon was confirmed by the devs to be apart of the main Dark Witch series)

They took out a lot. Some of the core game mechanics from 2 like having the abillity to have 1 more type of thing to shoot (which is punishment btw; it only used to be Comet and Linear), The difficulty got balanced a bit too hard (It feels to me that there's a cesspool of enemies on screen at all times and the game despite already having a stage about enemies tricking you, enemies like to trick you all over the place), Lunatic is actually difficult to navigate compared to most of the games, the characters are still anime-like, and uh... That's all. I'm pretty sure that if a fan of this game were to read this rule, they would completely agree with me with this.

If they at least brought some of the things from it's predecessor back into the game, it would rank the same or higher than it, but no. It doesn't. Also, it's developer, despite literally making a rule not to share and use their sprites in let's say... Fangames, he still doesn't want to make a port of this game, and the 3DS has been discontinued. The only way to play it is by modding your 3ds and getting it through different means.

Beat on a 3DS, replayed in an emulator on PC, might do 100% if I feel like it. Not really a fan of it, however, I acknowledge that this probably is a decent game for most. It changes up a bunch of the gameply of it's predecessors. This is generally for the worse, and it's not as fun as 1 or 2. I know everyone likes the level design in 3, but not me. I found the design to be pretty weak after the second half, and it ruined what would've been a pretty good game. The graphics are nice and the music is phenomenal, but there's only so many good things to say about it. A hasty recommendation from me.

I have so much to say about this series! compared to the first two games i was surprised they kept only 1 power the entire game not that we use as often the spells we learn when defeating a boss as in the previous two games, it gives advantages of not worrying about what kind of weakness the bosses have would have and it turns out to be quite challenging! both stories had a more serious tone but never lost the good humor that the series has, the platforming sessions got longer, finding Syega became quite challenging some are well hidden which makes the first half huge and goes over 10 minutes, but then if you repeat the stage you can finish them in 3 to 5 minutes or less, the number of bosses are huge which creates a very large cast of girls and each one has a unique personality, and about the art style I have to praise again everything is beautiful! the backgrounds, the sprites are huge! it's very detailed you can see the eyes and the dialogue scenes have dubbing in japanese and you can see them moving of course this was already common in previous games but they kept and improved in the sequel, I just have to say that I'm satisfied with everything I've played .
