The Simpsons: Road Rage

released on Nov 19, 2001

The Simpsons: Road Rage is similar to Sega's 1999 video game Crazy Taxi, in that the main objective is to drive picked up passengers to their destinations as quickly as possible. The player receives money upon successfully dropping off each passenger, and bonuses are obtained when they are transported in a short amount of time. Players have to avoid certain hurdles, such as other vehicles and Burns' nuclear transit buses. The game contains sixteen different collectible vehicles, six starting locations, and ten different missions. In order to collect the vehicles and unlock starting locations, players must earn progressively more money for each vehicle or starting location they want to get.

From an early game it was good. there was somethings to improve on but was a solid game. One of my childhood Favorites

I hated playing this even as a kid with no standards.

While this is not the worst licence game, the task of reaching $1,000,000 is tedious, repetitive and boring.

The places where you can go to deliver passengers are Evergreen Terrance, Entertainment District, Springfield Dam, Nuclear Power plant, Downtown and Springfield Mountains. Though Evergreen Terrance is the only area available at the start, reaching a reward amount will either allow you to go to new places or unlock new characters.

The characters available at the start are the Simpsons family but as you reach the amount you will be able to unlock new characters like Moe to Snake with their voice actors returning to their characters.

Mr. Burns has bought the buses and has upgraded them to be nuclear powered. During the game the buses and Burns will try and bump into you which can be very annoying when you try to deliver passengers.

While this is a passable game, The Simpsons Game and Hit & Run are superior in every way, so play those instead.

If you don't deliver anyone to their destination mr burns calls you a grandma, which is fun

I rented this game back in the day when it came out and had fun with it for a few hours before I felt the game got repetitive. This was not a bad effort considering it was an early-gen title with limitations but I thought the use of the Simpsons license was well done and driving around Springfield was fun and interesting despite early hardware limitations.

One things I appreciated over the obvious Crazy Taxi comparison is that this game allowed for more breathing room and thus it was easier to explore the surroundings.
