Really fun and a nice length! I've seen some people say that its subject matter is very on-the-nose, and while I agree a bit, does everything need to be fresh and different EVERY time? I liked how obvious it became, sometimes being blatant still holds weight and meaning, I believe...

There was a little bit of waiting occassionally in the stonks section, but I don't know how easy that would be to balance so maybe its fine?

Overall solid little thing! Great soundtrack, well designed menus and cute art, fun characters that help to remind you, even though your governing the world, its still full of individual people! I look forward to our future as humans, and to a day when, perhaps... This Game is Haunted will make another game! I hope so! :)

Trash the Planet is an enjoyable, pint-sized clicker whose lampooning of humanity and the societal structures we have built feels almost cathartic in the midst of our current human and societal failings. The idea of representing the wealthy as greedy raccoons doing evil things just feels about right and is often pretty funny. The clicker aspect is a fun loop too, even if it is mechanically shallow. It gives plenty of opportunities to bring balance to the machine and get that endorphin hit. All this to say, if you have two hours to kill and are in the mood for a clicker, Trash the Planet is worth a shot.

I definitely appreciate this game's good (if straightforward) politics, but I do find myself wishing that it were wrapped around a bit better of an idle game

A spiritual sequel of sorts to Universal Paperclips. Has some fairly amusing moments early on with some cute jokes and worldbuilding, but all this is torched in Act 3 where the writing starts to alternate between very on the nose in the delivery of its message and somewhat frustration and annoyance with how the wacky hijinks of the various characters were mixed into all this.

Gameplay has a similar downward trajectory. Early on it feels like the game is aiming to subvert idle games, but the further you get the more lost in the mire of waiting around you get. The experience wasn't wholly without merit, but I left very dissatisfied wishing my time was spent basically anywhere else.
