Vectronom

released on May 28, 2019

A hypnotic video game about music, geometry and flow. Vectronom is a music platformer. The game combines challenging platforming with rhythm based gameplay. The architecture of each level changes with the music, players have to memorize patterns and overcome obstacles while dancing through the game world. Unlike other beat matching games where the player has to follow prompts, in Vectronom players have a larger degree of freedom while playing.

fun little rhythm/puzzle game. very short and not a whole lot to it, but not bad by any means. the way each level builds upon rhythms/ideas presented in the previous ones is pretty nifty, and even though the rules/concepts it provides for each one are simple it does a lot with them. also, the soundtrack is REALLY good. i kinda wish i had someone else to play through it with though

only real issue (other than its length) is that unfortunately the timing feels just a little off sometimes. it doesn't feel like a skill issue on my part, sometimes you'll get the perfect beat flash yet still fall directly into the block that appeared in front of you despite it very clearly being there. not a game-breaker, but definitely killed my vibe a little bit. still, though, catch it when it's on sale. s'good.

Shapes, sounds, colours - tailor made for me.
