Virtua Tennis is a tennis game in which it is possible to control one of eight licensed players and uncover the secret stars. As well as the traditional arcade mode, you can play in the exhibition mode, with four-player action via doubles play. Once you've mastered those modes, take on the world in the world circuit mode, with unique training games, different challenges and shops to buy clothing, equipment, stages and playing partners.

Zero hyperbole, zero exaggeration, one of the greatest video games ever made. Local multiplayer genuinely does not get better than this. Game is so easy to pick up and play and so fucking hard to master. Presentation is still amazing to this day with smooth animations, tv style replays, graphics that hold up and an iconic butt rock guitar soundtrack. Def recommend playing on an arcade stick if you can. Sega at its best.

Not a sports games kind of person (it's weird to me that enough people on the planet would play a simulation of a sport rather than, I don't know, go outside and ACTUALLY play said sport), but as far as those type of games go, this one's quite good.
What a game!!! I did a tournament and it was a little easy up until the finals, where it got much harder but I was able to pull it out. Gameplay feels real smooth for a 2D tennis game. But the game really shines in the World Tour mode which is chock full of some pretty funny minigames (such as building a hamburger with serves). I love that you can grow your characters like an RPG from these minigames even way back on GBA. Before this, I think I had only played Virtua Tennis 3 and 4, and now feel like I underestimated this series. Would definitely play this some more.
