played with friends tonight. i don’t imagine it would’ve been fun by myself

Walkabout is perhaps the perfect VR game. A perfectly executed incredibly simple premise. Everything feels right, the art ranges from simple and pretty to stunning and impressive from course to course, wonderful music, great bonuses like finding lost golf balls, or the more advanced searches for new clubs, hundreds of excellently designed holes of mini-golf which are regularly joined by new courses at a reasonable price.

Easily the new default for introducing someone to room-scale virtual reality.

A surprisingly good VR experience. It took a few holes to get used to the fact that you are swinging a "weightless" club, but past that everything feels quite intuitive and natural. The environments in the game are simple but beautiful and enjoyable to spend time in. Multiplayer with friends is effortless and the in-game avatars are just enough to give a sense of presence without getting in the way. The courses themselves are numerous and varied, though many of them are paid DLC (given the $15 base price, I'd say it's worth picking up at least a few). Overall this is a shining example of VR-mimicking-reality in which the VR version is better - I can play on a private course with my friends anywhere, any time, for a fraction of the cost. Give it a try!

I'm calling this one complete after having played all courses in the base game, finding all lost balls, and completing all scavenger hunts. But there is much play left to be had as it is an addicting online multiplayer game and the DLC course options are many. This is simply a rock solid mini golf game in VR. It works exactly as you want it to and, because, it's in VR, it can go to those fantastic places that make it, in many ways, even better than reality. The art doesn't look great in still images, but alive in VR (in motion and with the lovely in-game music, weather effects, etc.), it really is more captivating than you'd expect of a low-priced miniature golf video game. If you have a platform that runs it, play 'Walkabout Mini Golf.' Hard to imagine anyone being disappointed with it.

One of the better VR experiences. It's well made and feels very smooth. The levels are also quite creative and fun to play around in. If you like mini-golf, this is definitely a must-try on VR-Glasses. :)

Walkabout Mini Golf might be the most simple and perfectly executed VR game I've ever played. The courses look fantastic, the soundtrack is lovely, and the putting is so responsive, it really doesn't feel far off from actual mini-golf. But to add to this, the developers have taken the time to ensure the necessary quality-of-life improvements are there to simplify proceedings. You can manually move around the courses, which is great for exploring and looking out across the landscape, but a measure like pressing the trigger to immediately position you behind your ball for the next shot is a simple but easily overlooked mechanic, which in this case makes the gameplay loop seamless. The lost balls are a great addition to provide that extra dynamic to your single-player game (though these can also be found in multiplayer) and in turn provide you with lots of great ball customisation options.

The only thing holding this back from 5 stars is the lack of a rank-based matchmaking system. The majority of players playing online have mastered these holes by now, with some extremely impressive strategies. As a new player, the vast majority of them end the game with me when they realise I'm no challenge, which can be a little demoralising.
