Shut Your Mouth was a step forward for the Smackdown series at the time, but today, it feels a bit like a work-in-progress compared to its sequel, Here Comes the Pain. There are less moves, season mode is less polished, and the graphics, lighting, and character models are also a step below. Some players do prefer Shut Your Mouth for its roster and simpler gameplay, and I get that, but I would still recommend Here Comes the Pain over this in most situations.
One of the best wrestling games ever made. Peak roster and I liked how they did the star ratings in the story mode. I probably put 100+ hours into this game, easy.
I think the customization was the best in this game.
This isn't so much a review as a statement, but my copy has some serious save issues, and i'm not sure what i can do to fix it. Everytime i save, the first save works perfectly, but after that, it's unable to detect a memory card at all, even if i remove the memory card i saved it to and use another. If I delete the data, it works though. Very Strange
First 6th console generation wrestling title I ever tried, and man did it seem revolutionary. Story mode just never ended, letting me play out glorious pre-Ruthless Aggression nonsense as much as I liked. Being able to walk around backstage and bump into NPC wrestlers, kicking up feuds or launching little skits with them, was priceless. A lot of the game modes were firsts for me (N64 wrestling titles could never handle Hell in a Cell). Just a lot of fond, era specific memories with this one.
Ba gawd they did it again
