Better than the first game in a few areas, worse in few but mostly the former. Improvements are starting to show: really enjoyed the character switch, which i cant praise enough: definitely offered an interesting approach to combat (iframes, berserk state "storage"). Of course that trashy upgrade system is here to stay but it seems to have been streamlined just a bit which is fine by me and they at least tried with the OST. Now when it comes to worse stuffs than the first game, some fights would go for unreasonable stretches to the point they become exhausting.

A game that can be a slog to play due to the levels being barebones and overly long, and yet I ended up loving it because of the very original additions of the berserker mode, being able to use two characters at once and the giant splashes of neon pink blood that you have to periodically clean off of your sword. It helps that the characters's movesets are fairly diverse and comfortable to use despite the combat being extremely simple. I liked it

It's an... improvement? Over ZH1 in some ways but absolutely more tedious. The levels feel like they drag on forever even in NG+ due to the damage sponge enemies. The bosses range from hilariously easy to "oh god i need to reload and find an immunity necklace".

Reiko is hot though so an extra half star for that. Miserable from a speedrunning and casual perspective as the charm that ZH1 had was entirely due to how short it was. This way overstays its welcome.
