If you are tired of the modern pokemon games and want a classic pokemon-like experience, this is the game for you!

Beautiful spritework, great monster designs, really nice soundtrack, a different combat system based on stamina that is similar but different enough from pokemon to be pretty interesting, lots of quality of life additions that makes it clear that this was made by romhack fans and lets you dial the experience to be exactly what youd want......the story is the only downside, sadly, it is lighthearted but pretty basic.

Really hope the sequel they tease at the end does get made, if all the systems stayed the same but the story was more engaging, coromon "2" could be a 10/10.

Decent and fun Pokemon inspired game.

I do want to play the story update sometime (because the story was somewhat forgettable before), but yeah I've been following this one since the demo in 2020 and it was pretty refreshing.
The monsters are very nice, the skins look cool but I'd never have the patience to get them lol
But yeah, just I had issues with replayability initially

As a person that does not enjoy too much Pokemon videogames but loves the concept of collect them all, likes a decent story and lore and doesn't mind playing some cool puzzles in the middle on the adventure, this is really good.

Artistically it's really cool, in coromon design feels really unique if you compare it to all the pokemon in general, they look more like foes or agressive monsters not like pokemon that the 90% are friendly-shaped critters, and for me that's great and something that I personally like a lot.

The story isn't something mindblowing, but if we directly compare it to the majority of pokemon games' stories it's pretty good. Not amazing, but keeps you entertained. But something that I love is the bossfights. Unlike pokemon, there's no gym trainers or something like that, there's bosses. And the 6 bosses are great to fight, the unique problem I see here it's in the final one, that it's really easy (at least it was for my coromon).

And a really important part: customization. You can make the game easier, a challenge, or a gambling simulator. And that's amazing. You can do a run with the starter you want, or capture coromon of trainers, or with an advanced AI with limited coromon... It's crazy the amount of challenge and randomness you can give a run, and adds crazy amounts of replayability to a 30h game, which is something really hard in a linear game like this imo.

Overall, it's a good game if you like pokemon concept or something related to pokemon. The OST is meh and some decisions in the game are weird, but it's a really good solid game. And Frova is the best coromon btw.

As someone who really likes Pokemon and Pokemon-like games I have always been interested in these different takes on the monster taming/catching games. However, I have never actually played a good one. Until now. Coromon doesn't really reinvent the Genre or even surprasses the best 2D Pokemon games, but it is a lot of fun.

PROS
- The OST is amazing
- great 2D visuals, a lot of love put into the environments and animations
- most Coromon have cool designs
- difficulity settings
- a good story for games like these
- fun writing
- great linear progression through different areas, some even with their own special minigame (e.g. Mushroom collecting for scents/buffs, gem collecting for money).
- ideal game length, it does not overstay its welcome

CONS
- the battle system is a little bland compared to Pokemon, but it is fine
- some Coromon are useless, it is always better to go with rare/good mons and ignore the rest. Unless you overlevel, then you can use whatever you like
- not a lot of customization for your character, but there is some at least
- characters aren't really fleshed out, the same problem Pokemon has as well
- the ending is good, but kind of rushed, although they adressed this already and are planning on some kind of Epilog fingers crossed

Probably the most straightforward of the recent trend of Pokemon clones. The major pro is the great artwork, the major con is that it doesn't really inspire much excitement. Like I made it through the whole thing and I was never bored but I didn't feel connected to any of my Coromon or the world or anything like that.

Plus there's zero post-game.

A fun pokemon clone game. Didn't have enough unique mechanics to hold my attention for all that long but I might replay it and give a full review at some point.

Pokemon copia mid pior mid demais

Fun Pokemon-like with good QoL changes. No brainers like difficulty settings, randomizer options, being able to reteach moves at any point and more.

This game is currently in the Humble Choice for April 2024, and this is part of my coverage of the bundle. If you are interested in the game and it's before May 7th, 2024, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle.

It’s Pokemon

Coromon has such an obvious influence it even ends in Mon. But at the same time, it also does things everyone wants to see. This has a customizable difficulty with interesting choices like limited heals at the doctors, limits to monsters you can catch, and more. Every character also gets a trait when it’s caught and those traits can make two similar creatures vastly different. There’s also the ability to customize the stats of your creature and so much more. Compared to the main genre which feels like it’s stagnating at times, Coromon feels like the breath of fresh area the fans of the genre are begging for.

But at the same time, it’s Pokemon with most of the same negatives. You’ve seen much of this idea before, and while there are tons of fresh moments, the majority of the game is leveling up monsters, fighting x number of bosses, this time you fight Titans or something, and while there are new abilities, you will feel like you’ve done this before. Also, there are only 124 monsters here, and while there’s more content in other areas, having fewer characters than the first Pokemon game is a weird choice. I know, this probably has more animations or art requirements, but It still feels odd.

Pick this up if you like Pokemon. This is a pure Pokemon style game, but it’s also so well done and does enough new that fans who may have been burnt out on the main series will probably find something fresh here. At the same time, it’s not going to change most players' minds if they aren’t already fans of Pokemon.

much like nexomon, i picked up this game to scratch the itch pokemon doesn't for me any longer, but unlike nexomon i was INSTANTLY blown away by this game. i'm confident anyone would be similarly impressed, and i'd very easily and enthusiastically recommend this game to anyone that likes creature collectors.

coromon's overall presentation is, quite honestly, better than modern pokemon games. the sprite work is legitimately gorgeous, and the animation of the coromon in battle is excellent, charming, and full of life. i think i liked some songs from the ost as well if i remember correctly. the story is honestly kind of insane but i really doubt anyone plays creature collectors for story purposes anyway. at least it's more interesting than pokemon stories i suppose?

another pretty large boon this game possesses is its accessibility to all manner of players. there are difficulty levels, and you can even customize difficulty options yourself and play the game exactly how you want. my favorite setting that i used profusely was letting regular healing items work as revives, for example.

i cannot sing coromon's praises enough. they're still adding content to the game as well. there are daily and weekly rewards now, with equippable cosmetics for your coromon that is a pretty recent thing. afaik there was a major story ending overhaul even just months ago. an extremely rare case of a game that i give a 9/10 PURELY on its objective quality; i truly CANNOT recommend this game enough.

Pokémon se a Nintendo não fosse horrível.

Coromon wears it's inspiration on it's sleeve and makes sure that the sleeve is rippling with muscle and sinew in it's improvements on the creature catching formula. Throughout its roughly 30 hour main story, Coromon reveals its brilliance in design, progression and balance that I have sorely wanted from Pokemon.

The story isn't compelling. You are tasked with going to the different regions of the continent to gather elemental stones to defeat the bad guys. Copy paste JRPG trope. It makes up for it though with a level of charm in how it's NPC's are written where it knows to not take itself too seriously.

The world design isn't that inspired either. There's a spooky place, an ice place, a fire place. It's all very tropey. But the overworld itself and the way that the player solves puzzles through it is a welcome change of pace. I have to highlight the real-time puzzles that required timing and precision over here as they really gave variety to the gameplay. Additionally, the way that the level curve of each of the zones and how the player progresses through them was done masterfully as I never felt the need to sit down and grind my mons in order to overcome the next hurdle. (Might have also been my team composition too). My only grip would be the lack of substantial post-game content. Pretty barebones once you finish the story.

The creature design is top notch. Almost every "mon" in the game made me want to adopt it into my party. (Enough for me to consider a replay.) Alas, I had to make sure that I carried a balanced team with me. I can't say much on the competetive side of things but it seems that the move list of each mon was designed so that each one of them can be viable in a singleplayer run. Much appreciated!

I really liked Coromon! I would love to see the developers expand on the world and the variety of mons out there! Great Game! 👍👍👍👍

Coromon is a well rounded Monster Collector JRPG which is really similar to a certain other series. The graphics are alright, remind me of Gen 5. The mechanics are also similar to Pkmn but the types are different. Thankfully they show what is very effective so you dont have to get used to a different system. The Monster Designs are creative and memorable. Would recommend since the genre is mostly dominated by one series so its nice to get a fresh breath of air every once in a while.

I had a pretty good time with this game. I really enjoyed some of the designs and I loved the art style. However, I thought there was way too much filler in some of the towns. I also wished there was a bit more to do in the towns, like gyms.

Is it called Coromon because the magazine that frequently leaks Pokémon news is called CoroCoro?

Pretty damn good Pokémon clone, all things considered. Hell, it does a lot of things better than Pokémon. It's well-balanced, the potential system is so much more fun than shiny hunting, the spritework and animations are phenomenal, repels are timer-based instead of step-based, you can change moves around on the fly, devolve your Coromon, change their color palettes, increase the battle speed, increase the overworld speed, change the type of spinner your Coromon was caught in, DEEP BREATH there are no HMs, no catchable legendaries, no intrusive gimmicks, and the story is...okay, well, it isn't that different from any other Pokémon game.

It doesn't need a phenomenal story, but the writing did take a noticeable "meme-y" dip in quality once you hit the desert town, but it thankfully picks back up afterwards. At least there weren't gyms in this one.

I vastly preferred the big boss fights you had at the end of each area, those were far more challenging. Actually, this whole game was more challenging than any Pokémon game I've ever played (if we're not counting Johto's insane level curves).

As far as negatives go, I missed Grass Types more than I expected I would. Those usually have a lot of fun designs and that was just absent from Coromon. There's no dual-typing, which means most designs don't stray too far from their gimmick. And while there are quite a few solid designs in the game, I noticed there were a surprising amount of...slime-inspired Coromon? Every type except Normal and Ice has at least one, with a couple having two. I mean, none of them are BAD, but I just found it a little weird that there were so many lmao

Anyway this game is pretty fun. If the Pokémon formula has gotten stale but you are still itching to play a monster tamer, give Coromon a shot.

7 Hours, really wasnt that good. I just wanted a Pokemon Experience on PC

• Sprites bonitos e muito bem feitos;
• Mecânicas reenventadas para melhorar a experiência de jogadores que já conhecem outros títulos de "Pocket Monters";
• Possui mecânica de dificuldade, o que possibilita diferentes estilos de gameplay;

Contras:
• Design dos Coromons é bem simples, poucos me chamaram atenção;
• Em relação a outros jogos, Coromon possui uma pouquíssima variedade de bichinhos, se limitando a 114 apenas (apesar de ter dois tipos de "shiny");
