i liked the atmosphere and music of this game; the story didn't seem too bad either, but the gameplay was terrible. the bosses were sponges with very few attacks, and none of them were fluid to fight. every enemy has contact damage, making the game become less enjoyable the more damage i took from touching a stationary enemy. the level design was generic, and after a while, i didn't care for the art because this game was so monotonous. this would be better suited as a book, manga, or vn rather than a metroidvania, as it is severely lacking in its gameplay.

Ender Lilies me parece un juego que, a poco que te gusten los metroidvania debes darle una oportunidad.

El apartado artístico habla por si solo, simplemente precioso. Durante nuestro periplo nos encontramos recorriendo escenarios variados, yendo y viniendo, como es típico de este género pero sin hacerse repetitivo ni excesivamente frustrante, ya que a poco que observes el mapa podrás intuir cuales son los posibles puntos por donde hay que seguir.

Además, algo que me da mucho gustito es que cuando completas una zona por completo ésta queda pintada para indicarte que ahí ya no te queda nada más por ver ni recoger.

Destacar, que en todo momento estamos acompañados de una magnifica banda sonora, temas como Awakening, Harmonious o The Witch's Breath no te los vas a poder quitar de la cabeza.

Respecto al combate, creo que cumple con creces, al menos a mí me ha resultado muy gratificante. Tenemos una gran variedad de opciones, aunque siendo sincero hay muchas habilidades que he probado y luego no he vuelto a utilizar en todo el juego, pero entiendo que esto ya es más cuestión de gustos.

La dificultad también la he sentido muy bien medida, sufriendo con algún que otro boss pero sin perder las ganas de seguir intentándolo.

También comentar que lo he jugado de principio a fin en la Steam Deck y funciona perfecto.

En conclusión, si te gusta el género y todavía no le has dado una oportunidad, dale.

( Eng Below ) Ender Lilies com certeza é um dos melhores jogos que eu já joguei, é um excelente metroidvania, mas sendo sincero... Eu não o recomendaria para quem está atrás de uma primeira experiência com metroidvania e soulslike, pois, apesar de ele ser um jogo bastante equilibrado, ele consegue ser um jogo frustrante.

Só pra motivo de comparação, o primeiro metroidvania que eu fiz o 100% foi o Blasphemous, e comparado com Ender Lilies, Blasphemous é bem mais fácil!

Mas agora falando dos outros aspectos do jogo... Primeiramente irei falar da arte, a direção de arte é muito bem feita, os designs de personagens são muito bons, e os cenários são incríveis, tanto que em vários momentos do jogo eu tirei print de tão lindos que são os cenários.

Agora... Apesar desse jogo ter uma arte incrível, na minha opinião, onde esse jogo mais brilha, é em sua trilha sonora e musical, dou um grande destaque para as faixas 'The Witch's Breath' (A trilha sonora da Floresta das Bruxas é com certeza a minha favorita de todas!), 'Accolade - Intro' e a 'Main Theme'. Mas devo dizer que a trilha sonora e musical do início do jogo até o mapa da Prisão Subterrânea são as que mais me agradam, diferente da trilha sonora da parte final do jogo sinceramente não me agradou muito (Tirando a trilha do Boss final, que é muito boa!), mas ela condiz bastante com a história, então, apesar de eu não ter gostado, tem motivo pra elas serem como são!

Em relação aos bosses do jogo, eles são muito bem feitos, as lutas são muito legais (Com um grande destaque para a luta contra o Julius, contra o Wolve e contra o Rei dos Corrompidos , que foram as que mais me divertiram!).

Em relação a história do jogo, ela é muito boa, é contada de uma forma muito clara, que dá pra entender todos os acontecimentos, o que, sinceramente, eu prefiro!

Bem... É isso, eu gostei muito do jogo, fazer o 100% foi muito legal, recomendo demais pra quem tiver querendo se aventurar em um metroidvania (Mas lembrando que ele é um jogo um tanto frustrante em alguns momentos) <3

Ender Lilies is certainly one of the best games I've ever played, it's an excellent metroidvania, but to be honest? I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a first experience with metroidvania and souls-like, because although it's a very balanced game, it can be frustrating.

Just for comparison's sake, the first metroidvania I 100%'d was Blasphemous, and compared to Ender Lilies, Blasphemous is much easier!

But now on to the other aspects of the game... First of all, I'm going to talk about the art. The art direction is very well done, the character designs are very good, and the scenery is incredible, so much so that at various points in the game I took screenshots of how beautiful the scenery is.

Now... Although this game has incredible artwork, in my opinion, where this game shines the most is in its soundtrack and music. I'd like to highlight the tracks 'The Witch's Breath' (The Witch's Forest soundtrack is definitely my favorite of them all!), 'Accolade - Intro' and the 'Main Theme'. But I have to say that the soundtrack and music from the beginning of the game to the Underground Prison map are the ones I like the most, unlike the soundtrack for the final part of the game, which I really didn't like (apart from the Final Boss soundtrack, which is very good!), but it's very much in keeping with the story, so even though I didn't like it, there's a reason for it to be the way it is!

As for the game's bosses, they're very well done, the fights are very cool (with a special mention for the fights against Julius, Ulv and the Blighted Lord which were the ones I had the most fun with!)

As for the game's story, it's very good, it's told in such a clear way that you can understand all the events, which, frankly, I prefer!

Well... That's it, I really enjoyed the game, getting 100% was really cool, I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to venture into a metroidvania (but remember that it's a rather frustrating game at times) <3


I very much want to like this, but it seems like it's just not going to happen. The controls don't feel good, the fact that there's a leveling system is deeply annoying (especially since it seems tied only to damage?), and I'm unsure I was ever actually having fun with it.

Really solid MV. Felt so much like playing Momodora RUTM (a favorite of mine), but with Vanillaware-inspired graphics. Some frustrating moments re: readability in level design (why can't I jump on these roofs???) but otherwise a very even-handed and engaging game.

I’ll admit, from a complete gameplay perspective, I don’t think Ender Lilies would actually be a 10/10. I still think it’s an amazing game, however I have so many personal connections to Ender Lilies and it’s genuinely one of my favorite games ever. I remember playing this game back when it first enter early access, and I absolutely adored it. I then played it again when it fully released, and I nearly completed it all, though I couldn’t beat the true final boss. After all this, with news of this game getting a proper sequel, I really wanted to replay Ender Lilies, and this time I was able to completely 100% Ender Lilies. And the more I played of Ender Lilies, the more it grew to be one of my favorite games of all time.

Now, I’m already biased here. Ender Lilies is a Metroidvania, and those are some of my favorite games ever. Ender Lilies is absolutely a fantastic Metroidvania, from its aesthetic, combat, and especially its mechanics. There’s so much that I adore in this game. Ender Lilies has one of the best quality of life additions for a Metroidvania, but at the same time I’m unsure how many Metroidvanias actually have this feature. Specifically, on the map it shows when you complete each room in an area, switching between Blue and Yellow, which is really nice. It helps direct you to know when you’re done in an area, or if you’re trying to 100% the game, to know where you need to go to further progress. Some areas are harder to find specific treasures, but when you’re able to succeed in getting them, it feels so good. There’s one that requires you to climb between 2 tall towers, and jump across the large gap between them. It was really difficult, but it felt so good to actually do.

And I absolutely adore the exploration in this game. Yet again this goes back to my bias with Metroidvanias, and how much I love them. I love getting lost in games, wandering and stumbling upon things, important or otherwise. Aside from very few games, There’s so many fun little nooks and crannies in Ender Lilies, alongside great platforming and combat challenges. The game doesn’t really point the player in a correct direction either, which is really nice. It shows you where exits to rooms are, but you still have to find your way to that spot, and even then, there isn’t even any markers telling the player where a sort of ultimate goal is. The player just finds it themselves, which I really love. With the near lack of direction that Ender Lillies has, the player is fully able to get lost and immersed in the world, which I adore.

And when it comes to the movement abilities, while they’re not completely unique, they’re of such a high quality, and there’s some really fun ideas thrown into the mix. Particularly I adore how this game works with the mechanic of dashing. At the beginning of the game, the player starts out with a rudimentary dash, though it’s purposefully not good. The player falls to the floor, and has to pick themselves back up. It’s good early game for dodging attacks, but not horizontal movement. But later in the game, the player gets an upgrade to their dash, which turns it into a more archetypical dash for a Metroidvania. And that Dash becomes one of the best movement options in the entire game. The other movement abilities are also really fun, and they’re all utilized so well in the game’s environment. Genuinely all of them are amazing.

I also really like the spirits you unlock throughout the game. Aside from the starting soul, you get them all from bosses, major, and minor. There’s so many spirits, and you can practically equip 6 at the time, though you switch between sets of 3. And there’s so much customizability with them, and you can create some really fun builds with them. Back when I played the game for the first time, I really liked using the summonable spirits, having a Summoner build. While this time around, I went primarily with melee build, focusing almost solely on the beginning spirit. I also really love how some of the spirits can help with movement, sometimes necessitating using them to find some of the rarer treasures. The spirits are so malleable and customizable, and I really love them.

The relics as well are really fun modifiers you can include as well. I will say, I think objectively the best one is the one that heals you slightly every time you damage an enemy. There’s also simple ones, such an increasing health, damage, or defense, and there’s also some other good ones, like increasing your healing usages. It’s also well balanced, by limiting how many you can equip, though increasing how many you can hold as you find certain treasure. I absolutely love it.

Combat is mostly simple, but man it’s really fun. The further you get into the game, when the enemies get noticeably harder, it becomes really fun. There was a section in the game where you climb a tower as enemies appear as you climb up, and you have to fight them all to unlock the path forward was really fun. Some enemies are annoying at times, but they all become manageable eventually, and it feels so good going back to an area where you originally had trouble and you steamroll it because of how much you’ve progressed. And I absolutely adore the bosses in this game. Most were relatively easy for me, I beat a majority of the bosses between my first to third tries. I remember when I played this game when it first released, Hoenir was absolutely the most annoying boss day one, he spawned other enemies at a ridiculous rate, though it was patched and became a more balanced boss. For me though the hardest boss was Ulv, he moved so fast, and his attacks were brutal. It probably took me 20-30 tries to actually beat him, but it felt so good to actually do so. An interesting thing though is the boss that actively prevented me from beating the game, the final boss, I beat on my complete first try, barely having any difficulty with it. It honestly was mind blowing to me for that to occur, but it feels so good to have that happen, it feels like I’ve improved so much between then and now.

And I can’t ignore Ender Lilies’ music. This game introduced me to one of my favorite bands of all time, because that band worked on the game’s music. Mili is an amazing group, and all of the music that they made for the game showcases that. I’ll admit as well, the credits music made me tear up, after everything that I’ve experienced within and around Ender Lilies, hearing that end credits music really impacted me, and cemented my love of this game.

Yet again, I can’t guarantee that you would have the same love for Ender Lilies that I do. There’s so many personal experiences that connect me to Ender Lilies that I know other people wont share. However to me that is an important factor on the love of a game, those connections, the impacts that a game have. And because of that, Ender Lilies is downright one of my favorite games of all time, even if you don’t love it as much as I do, please give this game a chance. It may not be a masterpiece for you, but it is a masterpiece for me.

Game's really good. Gets a little slow in the last third but pretty much every metroidvania does. Final boss is a bit lack luster but gets better in one of the endings. Lots of movement upgrades but at the same time I wish there were more. Maybe some more speed or something, no idea.

Overall, get it. It's all good, from animation to music to artstyle to gameplay.

Easily my favorite metroidvania I've played. Amazing graphics, music, combat and story. I'd give it more stars if I could, tbh

Shaman King did this kind of combat better on the Gameboy Advance brah.

As a side note I think the guy who ranked all the benches in Hollow Knight would love this game.

Conseguidos los finales A, B y C. Empieza muy bien, pero el diseño de niveles de las últimas zonas es una atrocidad, llena de enemigos que te oneshotean, los bosses llega un momento que literalmente te matan de una habilidad. La progresión al subir de nivel es una vergüenza (para eso no pongas niveles y ya).
Sabor muy agridulce podría ser un juegazo pero esos fallos empañan la experiencia de juego a niveles extremos para mí.

Ender Lilies, el Metroidvania perfecto en 2021
Suelo jugar practicamente todo juego indie y no indie de este género. He de decir que la mayor sorpresa indie desde Hollow Knight, ha sido Ender Lilies. Por el camino hay obras maestras, Dead cells, que basa su atractivo en la adiccion brutal que produce, Hades, uno de los mejores roguelike de los ultimos tiempos. Salt and sanctuary, un Dark Souls con todas sus letras en 2D. Pero hay dos señores Indie, uno es Hollow Knight, el otro es Ender Lilies.

Si bien su propuesta no es perfecta, bebe de otros juegos, es demasiado corto para el genero y no reinventa la rueda, basa su carisma en su diseo artistico su mas que buena historia contada en “modo lore” y algunas cinemáticas bastante cuidadas, en un sistema de combate que mejora constantemente y es adictivo, y en el uso de “espiritus” como el arsenal de ataques y habilidades del juego. Ender Lilies es la conjunción perfecta de estas cosas. Un indie sobresaliente que no puedes dejar ir si te gustaron todos los nombrados, en especial Hollow Knight.

HISTORIA:
Revelar algo mas alla de su inicio puede ser considerado spoiler, no obstante la historia es una bella excusa para empezar el viaje mas que el punto principal de la obra, pero que acompaña muy bien y da gusto seguirla. Somos una “doncella blanca” que despierta en lo que parece su tumba acompañada del espiritu que parece guardarla “El caballero negro” La doncella blanca no parece conocerle e incluso le inspira miedo, pero el caballero esta atado a su capacidad de invocar espiritus y es su forma de materializar ataques. Pronto el caballero le otorga el nombre de Lilly al descubrir cierto acontecimiento. Sin saber muy bien porque has despertado, sabes que tu mision es purificar las almas y el mundo de la corrupción. Ir mas alla es descubrir la historia poco a poco.

DISEÑO ARTISTICO:
Para enmarcar en mayúsculas, puede competir directamente por ser el Indie mas bonito de la historia, no es tan colorido como Ori, pero hace gala de efectos que son un sinfin de emociones, todas apuntan a un sentimiento, hasta su final, y es que se respira melancolía por todos los poros de Ender Lilies, como he dicho alguna vez, el videojuego es arte, el arte es transmision, si no transmite nada, su arte es pobre, Ender Lilies transmite, todo el rato, no es Last Guardian ni lo pretende, pero es suficientemente directo al corazón como para sentir el dolor, la soledad y la melancolía de Lilly.

SONIDO
Otro apartado excelente, las composiciones son para grabar, ambientan esa melancolía sobre todo en las melodías iniciales, todo sugiere que ese mundo brilló una vez y ahora es decadencia, un sentimiento muy parecido a Dark Souls (he intentado omitir referencias a Souls ya que este juego no se le parece excepto en contar la historia con el lore, pero transmite de la misma manera y con la misma fuerza).
Los efectos de sonido son los mejores en un indie, los ataques pesan al mando y el sonido es adecuado, no es estridente, ambienta muy bien.

JUGABILIDAD
Si bien solo tengo buenas palabras para Ender Lilies, no puedo catalogarlo de obra maestra, no es que no lo sea, lo es, pero objetivamente no es perfecto, no puede darse un 10 solo subjetivamente. La jugabilidad no es innovadora en absoluto, es calcado punto por punto a Hollow Knight en cuanto a ataques y habilidades, que vienen mejorando desde Symphony of the night (en su tiempo, la obra maestra del genero) si bien es verdad que la jugabilidad de Lilies esta algo mas “actualizada” peca del defecto mas grande de un metroidvania para mi, al atacar, el personaje no se mueve, Hollow Knight solvento este mal endémico del metroidvania, en Ender no, si bien otorga un aspecto de estrategia que bien podria pasar por intencionado, me explico, el hecho de que Ender Lilies tenga este “sintoma” hace que debas medir bien el timing, tanto que hace que su fallo se vuelva adictivo y encima genere la sensación de ser un reto mayúsculo.
Ender Lilies es bastante mas facil que hollow Knight, mucho mas que salt and sanctuary y Dead Cells, pero el reto sigue siendo bueno, en parte esta facilidad depende de tu habilidad y eso siempre es bueno, En apenas 3 combates, si eres hábil captaras los patrones de los jefes y los venceras rapido, pero como digo, depende de tu habilidad, si no eres ducho en este genero, sera muy difícil y la mejor puerta de entrada posible al género.
Por otra parte Ender tiene un diseño de niveles muy bueno, que no espectacular, es bastante lineal, pero sus puzzles y atajos lo compensan creando la ilusion de un mundo mas complejo, no es Hollow Knight, esta algo por debajo aqui, pero es un buen mundo, muy parecido al de Salt and Sanctuary en su desarrollo.

GRAFICOS
Un estilo 2D Cell shading de scroll lateral bellisimo con efectos muy buenos 3D de particulas y otros elementos en pantalla que despliegan un espectaculo visual, es un deleite jugar estos parajes, algunos juegos AAA Deben mirar abajo y pensar ¿Que estamos haciendo mal?

CONCLUSION.

Creo que queda claro, que con un diseño de niveles mas intrincado y quizá el poder moverse atacando para no comerte “sin querer” un golpe harian de Ender Lilies una obra maestra, no obstante hay un Indie superior por muy poco en casi todo, Hollow Knight, y es complicado afirmar esto cuando Lilies me ha gustado practicamente igual o mas, pero objetivamente es superior. Quizás seria mi top 1 Indie en lo personal, pero no en lo objetivo. Me agrada mas el arte y su “velocidad de aprendizaje” pero no son motivos objetivos.
La historia es bella, llena de melancolía y acompañando su banda sonora hacen un conjunto artístico espectacular, aun asi, le faltan mas secretos, mas puzzles, mas variedad de estos y un lore mas intrincado para ser perfecto.

Si eres fan del movimiento Indie que brilla espectacularmente en los metroidvania, y si sobre todo, eres fan de symphony of the night y Hollow Knight, Ender Lilies no te va a defraudar, colocandose como uno de los mejores Indies jamas hechos para cualquier consola o PC

A bit hard. I'm really not a fan of the healing system used in Dark Souls, but otherwise, it's a good Metroidvania.

Ender lilies foi uma grande e agradavél experiência, o jogo é lindo e tem um mapa relativamente grande e bem detalhado.
A dificuldade é ok, em algumas partes tive que parar para upar minha personagem mas isso não se tornou chato.
Algumas animações da personagem são meio estranhas, principalmente a de nadar, mas nada que estrague a experiencia. Um otimo jogo que vale muito a pena jogar.

An excellent metroidvania. It’s haunting and beautiful and sad, with the Dark Souls philosophy of storytelling, but it’s worth the time. The unique concept of the spirits is very cool, and the multiple axes on which you can customize your character are great. Combat is simple but satisfying, platforming has some clever depth to it, exploration is great, story is beautiful. Highly recommended.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I finally wanted to catch up on Ender Lilies. I knew beforehand that it was a rather dark Metroidvania and that its narrative was based on games like Bloodborne or Salt and Sanctuary. Since I really like these games (especially Bloodborne), I had put Ender Lilies on my wish list years ago and had ignored it ever since :D So now the moment finally came when I had some time and was in the mood for a good Metroidvania over the Easter holidays.

It didn't take too long for the game to put me under its spell. It quickly became apparent where the influences for the world design and narrative lie. The game is very dark and the narrative rather convoluted; you shouldn't expect a clear, straightforward plot here. In typical Souls-fashion, you are thrown straight into the action and have to piece together the story piece by piece. Storytelling and worldbuilding heavily rely on item descriptions, comments from your companion and cutscenes that are played after defeating a boss or at key points in the game. I don't want to give too much away here, but I was very interested in the storyline and became quite emotionally involved. You could describe the narrative as a kind of dark, adult fairy tale. If that's what you're in the mood for, you'll be completely satisfied here.

In terms of gameplay, Ender Lilies really surprised me, as the game has some interesting ideas that I have rarely or never seen in this form in other games of the genre. What struck me right from the start was that I didn't directly control the game's protagonist - Lily - in battles. Instead, I could choose from a range of "guardians" who have different abilities and attack patterns. The variety of these guardians is truly amazing. From the classic sword wielder to rather slow hammer attacks and magical ranged attacks, everything is included here. In addition, you can summon supporting guardians and thus create a very individual play style. This was super cool and kept me wanting to try out new combinations of abilities. As the boss battles can be quite tough at times, it was also necessary to adapt my strategies from time to time in order to succeed.

In terms of exploration, I always had enough motivation to search the areas to discover items or other secrets throughout the entire game. What I really liked here was that the game shows you directly on the map whether there is still something to be found in a level section or not. However, I do have a small point of criticism here. Unfortunately, it has often happened that I still had something to do in a level area. However, as some of these areas are huge and you have no clue where exactly something is located, you sometimes spend ages walking through an area in search of the hidden item. This can be frustrating, especially in the later areas of the game, which are at times very monumental in size.

All in all, however, I can thoroughly recommend this game. The narrative is interesting, the world is beautifully designed, the exploration is fun and the boss battles are challenging. Towards the end, some of the battles get a little overly difficult but I never felt like the game presented me any unfair challenges. And hey, if you die, there's no punishment, no souls to retrieve or anything like that. You like cryptic narratives, dark moods and Metroidvania? Then definitely check out Ender Lilies.

a year ago I tried ender lilies and thought combat is clunky, unresponsive and I shelved after beating the first boss without giving it a second glance, now with the sequel coming soon (early access at the moment) I wanted to get back to the first game and oh boy did I got back to it and did my first impression aged badly. I simply had to get used to the overall feel of it and after that it just flowed from start to finish. I couldnt give my attention to games for about 1-2 months but ender lilies broke it and ignited my gaming side again with me being absorbed in this visually beautiful but storywise bitter hidden gem for 3 days straight. only nitpick I do have is that (and its probably my fault) while backtracking after getting new movement upgrades I felt I wasted my time because sometimes it wasnt clear what to do or how to find the the way even if I knew which paths got open (I checked one resting site for maybe 10 times and found the secret at the end of the game lmao), probably because map isnt detailed, I had to leave 2 areas not full so no %100 :(
also mili slaps as always, even though I knew and listened to ender lilies soundtracks before playing, it got even better while experiencing the game

i like the bosses and combat, movement feels nice, but it starts to feel like a slog about halfway in. the music is also quite repetitive.

I think its my favorite metroidvania, everithing is amazing, from the musics to the graphics and cutscenes, the gameplay starts a bit clunky but as you get used to it and with many movement upgrades it get way better.

cool metroidvania with a pretty artstyle, the game controls kinda weird imo, but its not too bad, overall pretty good and definitely a recommendation for people who like metroidvanias.

One of my favorite metriodvanias. The way it's world just draws you in and captivates me, the stellar ost that sets the tone perfectly, fun exploration and moves to use, and a really fun combat system with intense bosses, including a depressing setting, this game is Susie Core and I can't get enough of this. Must play for sure!
