It's not Gran Turismo's fault. The game is a spectacular version of itself. Well, there are some issues. Some of the cafe collections are real annoying. Progression getting held up by RNG or unclear objectives.

But the main reason this is a two star game for me is that I'm not a bored adolescent anymore with the time or inclination to grind a game like this to completion. It's just not compelling.

I had virtually no interest in cars before playing this, but I wanted something with good graphics for my shiny new PS5 and heard the haptic feedback in this game was incredible. That all ended up being true, but GT7's hardcore (to me) adherence to realistic physics and tuning is primarily responsible for me getting into cars (guess who knows how to change their brake pads and oil now...). It took me about a year of playing a couple races every week or two to "beat" the single player mode. I think treating this very casually was the way to go. Binging it would have been tedious.

That being said, the constant nudging towards spending real money on this game feels terribly out of place. Requiring this game to be always-online in the first place is ridiculous. Too bad modern AAA trends have infected their way into this.

I hear the original score for the older games goes hard. I ended up turning the music off entirely. At least the PS5 has Spotify support.

Not a bad racing game by any means, with incredibly deep personalization and eye-watering visuals benefiting the undisputed king of console simulators. However, the singleplayer campaign is still struggling under the weight of the game's multiplayer slant and is let down by a lack of events alongside horrendous pacing.

the best in professional racing but hate that it is almost unplayable offline and you have to wait until the game get's delisted (probably in 2027) so they do a patch to make offline playble

Not a car guy or a racing game lover.
GT7 on tv: 7/10, pretty fun, good graphics
GT7 in VR: 9.5/10, easily the best racing game I’ve played, best VR game and one of the best gaming experiences in general. Showing people is an absolute treat and there seems to be little chance for VR sickness.
Can’t give it a perfect 10 because the inclusion of microtransactions means it would take 1200 hours, at the very least, to get every car in the game, which is absurd because getting new cars is the motivator.

Franchise lost its way a long time ago but its pretty

2024 02 22 _ GT7, PD
simracing after a 15km 2hr run. figured out to do Le Mans, Nurb, and Spa in one go. time trials. Overcooked Nurb, so switched to STcroix. Then Tokyo Expressway East. drove the honda s800 and mustang 429 boss. tried the human comedy and got beat the fuck down. mean fucking computer but friendly. no progress on the licenses, still at IB and without the final lap attack at Spa

STcroix is fucking gorgeous. my god by jolly what a fucking track. lots of intricate turns, S-curves, and long straights with just insane views of nature

Tokyo Express East fucking took me hard. Every lap finished kept saying, “ok, last one, one more and that’s it”, but nope, I’d be right fucking back around there again.

took a while to change liveries and choose what to drive, noticed in brand central it shows the logo for the car company for a moment before diving into it’s home screen and showing the showroom and whatnot, that’s really fucking neat

suggestions:

it’d be great to be able to make custom championships, save ur favorite car for offline, or ur favorite race and car combo in the home screen

great game already but menu diving between cars and tracks tedious, want more driving, less menus(not car settings tho, that’s still fucking great)

R1/R2 or L-R D-pad in Manual and Beyond the Apex for L3/R3 Scrolling between ToC and Chapters
would accelerate player learning to play from game

I always keep a Gran Turismo game on deck for whenever I feel like driving. I was beyond excited for this game to release and I bought it day 1, but after diving into it, GT7 was a bit of a disappointment. Thankfully, through continued support from Polyphony, GT7 has blossomed into one of the best Gran Turismo games (in my opinion).

I will say the game is absolutely gorgeous and it sounds and feels amazing - The frustrating part is the heavy emphasis on monetization. Cars are expensive and if you don't have enough credits, the game is sure to let you know that spending your real life money is also an option. Personally, I would much rather pay double the retail price for this game and have none of the microtransactions present. It just feels bad to see all of that in such a gorgeous game.

It felt like the marketing for GT7 was pushing this cool, relaxing cafe where you can hangout, take on new objectives and marvel at the beauty of your current vehicle. In reality, the cafe feels extremely bare bones and is just a place to receive your next objective.

Another frustration is the fact that for a while now, Gran Turismo has had almost exclusively rolling starts for the races in game. It just feels weird that there are no grid starts. Race after race, you begin in last place and have to catch all the way up to first place.

Thankfully, the game has been well-maintained and has a lot on content to play through and a ton of cars to drive. All in all - a great game, just not exactly what I was hoping for.

Beautiful game with a ton of detail put into it for car enthusiasts. Unfortunately it’s bogged down by an obnoxious business model designed to get you to spend money as well as weird gameplay decisions.

Always having to play catch-up to first place since almost every race starts you in last or close to last. Leaving it to RNG to just earn the CHANCE to buy a car. Always-online. I get not wanting to make it too easy to buy cars, but I don’t want to grind a racing game.

Not only do I think this is the most beautiful racing game, I think it might be one of the most beautiful games I've ever played period. And the game doesn't just look amazing, it sounds amazing too. The racing cars sound exactly how they sound in all the racing events I've been to in real life.

The game, admittedly, had a weak start. Luckily, however, Polyphony has been adding constant updates to help develop the game. One of my favorite recent update is the inclusion of Weekly Challenges for you to complete, and finally a snow track we can race on. These regular developmental updates help continue my interest in the game; whenever I feel that I am losing my interest in Gran Turismo 7, the developers are always able to find a way for me to play the game again.

I will always have a soft spot for this game, not just because it's what got me into motorsports, but it just looks and feels amazing to play. There are some flaws, of course (I still wish we had a longer campaign mode, I'm not a fan of the extra menus), but it's grown to become a very solid racing game, and I can't wait to see how it continues to evolve before the next Gran Turismo game.

im not a huge fan of sim-racing games but all the DF coverage leading up to release convinced me to give it a try and I absolutley loved it. A visual treat and it feels great to get better at the game, even if im just racing the computer the whole time. Only qualm is that its always online and exclusivity/price of higher end cars :/

Gran Turismo 7 is likely to be my favorite Gran Turismo since 3 on the PS2, as it's the first to really match the vibes and level of polish that game had. However, it's campaign structure is definitely not my favorite.

Perfeito demais, cada detalhe, desde gameplay para menus, a serie GT sempre deu um ar de jogo de rico kkkkk, mas é ótimo qualquer parte dele

Vroom vroom skrrrrrrr
Most fun multiplayer skill building other than fighting games ngl ngl

I really fell in love with this game last year. I beat it a couple of months ago and when I did I was like "well fuck, now what am I gonna waste all my free time playing?" Probably my favorite game I played in 2023

As a gran Turismo game. It's starting to erk me how the games from the 90's are doing it better. Graphics and physics are the only reasons to go modern really. I could go on but I stand by the other score for how it's honeymoon period is and compared to other racing games in the modern age

One of the worst Gran Turismo games. Horrendous monetization, which should not be in any Gran Turismo game, period. An absolute grindfest, if you wanna buy a more expensive car. Shitty rigged roulette prizes and the „always online“ aspect fucking sucks.

But GT7 also has some positives to it. The cars handle great, good amount of cars, cool customization and the tracks look good. Although I did not like some of the changes to the original tracks, like removing that high speed chicane on Trial Mountain and the complete (visual) overhaul of Grand Valley Speedway.

The campaign is… kind of ass. I had the most fun with the missions and license tests, even if some were bullshit. Atleast they were a bit challenging, unlike the braindead campaign.

Don‘t buy this expecting a good Gran Turismo game. If you just wanna drive fast cars, then it‘s not a bad game.

This game looks absolutely fantastic, the mechanics and customazation of the car set ups it brilliant. The car catalogue is huge, so as a sim its awesome. But for me it just gets let down for me with the campaign model, I've played over 10 hours of this now and I'm still doing shitty 2 lap races starting at the back, meaning I need a car 10x faster than the AI to fly past them all in the 2 laps of racing. It's difficult to find the motivation to go on when all the races are blending into the same.

I understand this is probably a big multiplayer game, but I won't be indulging cos online racing is the most rage inducing cancerous form of online play you experience and I like my controllers not broken

Probably the best racing sim on consoles

The best driving and visuals the Gran Turismo franchise has ever seen ruined by one of the most despicable monetization models I’ve ever seen in in a video game.

After all this time, I finally "cleared" the game.

Still so many cars to unlock, and so many championships to get gold on everything etc.

I just wanted to retire it post credits and move onto something less "simy". Maybe FH5.

Absolutely loved the game though, incredible driving feel and visuals. Soundtrack didn't hit as hard though - mostly played with my own Spotify through the PS app.

I also spend substantial amount of time in PSVR2 and I can say that it is the best VR experience I have ever had. So sweaty!

Those license tests really put my skills to the test and I swear got me more pissed than a DS boss.

I am not a Gran Turismo fanatic or a sim racing game fanatic in general: for the longest time, my experience with racing games was growing up on the arcade NASCAR games, Mario Kart Wii, and the worst game I think I've ever seriously tried to play in M&M's Kart Racing. Realistic racing games have never been my thing, but I LOVE this game.

Gran Turismo blends a sort of high-art charm with beautiful graphics and a smooth UI system that perfectly balances the art of the video game with the precision of handling quality motor vehicles. The amount of customization you can do in this game is simply unparalleled in any game I've seen. I downloaded a Lightning McQueen skin and used it for a good third of my gameplay. The soundtrack is smooth and relaxing, the tracks are fun and diverse, and the cars are wonderful. Being able to drive vehicles that I would only hope to one day experience in real life and even get a semblance of that thrill and enjoyment is a wonderful experience.

The online play isn't great (especially when you are solely playing on controller) and the cafe progression system gets a little boring, but this game is jam-packed with content and things to do, and even though racing is racing, I feel like this game would take a long time to get old for anyone, let alone someone who has grown up with a unique interest between racing, automobile history, high art, and creative design. Gran Turismo takes all of these and makes a wonderful product, and definitively one of the most realistic-looking and beautiful games I've ever played.

No me gustan los juegos de carreras

Definitely the most cohesive and satisfying a Gran Turismo game has been as an overall package in a long time, even if there's definitely still a lot of flaws here.

I like the Cafe system and the way it handles progression, which I think is a slightly hot take. It's pretty far from the "caRPG" grind progression that GT made its name on, and the game does kinda vomit cars at you, but it's satisfying to get those cars and you do roughly get better and better cars as it goes on, so the progression isn't completely absent. Probably not for nothing that this is actually the first GT game where I've seen the career through to the credits.

And the game makes really good use out of the PS5 hardware as well. Not only in the obvious that the game is absolutely stunning, a candidate for the best looking racing game ever made, but also in justifying that SSD. Seriously, this series has had absolutely brutal load times since the PS3, and it's crazy to play an entry where loading into a race takes about half a second. The fact that getting in and out of menus is also super snappy helps make up for the parts where they're laid out in a clunky matter. (Seriously, why do I have to back out to the garage to tune the car instead of just doing it from the parts shop?_

Core racing feels about as solid as GT's ever been, and while this is far from the most content-stacked one of these games has been, there's still a decent amount of stuff to do and enough variety in events for you to get your money's worth. Though why Polyphony thought it was a good idea to bring back those stupid "One Lap Magic" challenges that make you wait a whole minute before you can retry it, I'll never understand.

There was also a bit of talk around launch over how getting the best cars in the game was a complete grindfest, making people suspiciously eyeball the microtransactions that are in the game, but if that was ever an issue it's mostly been fixed in post - the weekly challenges in particular go a long way to giving you quite a lot of money. Those 10 million credits cars are definitely still a nightmare to get, though they are also pretty frivulous so I guess it's not a huge deal.

Oh, uh, one more elephant in the room - always online requirement. Please don't, Polyphony. Just stop it.

Have been playing for about a month now and can comfortably say that in terms of pure gameplay is probably the best sim racing game I’ve ever played. Its career mode is the main thing holding it back, especially compared to older GT games it’s sad to see how it had gotten to this linear style of career.

Solid graphics, great sense of progress if you dont mind the bazillion credit cars and perfect handling model.
