The Library is one of the worst levels of all time.

Revolutionary title that aged like mayonnaise in the sun. The game's re-use of levels alongside fragrant copy-and-paste makes this game kind weak compared to other games in the series.
Additionally, the remastered levels look like ass lmaoooooo

Remastered graphics don’t capture the atmosphere of the levels. Better to simply play in the old graphics mode once again.

The start was good, but as the game continued, I became increasingly disoriented trying to traverse levels and figure out where I needed to go. Once I'd find my way, I would frequently perish and the checkpoints were the entire pathing back so levels became longer than anticipated, which killed some of my joy with it :/

I wish i had played on OG graphics from get go, not a remastered mess

Holds up super well (played for the first time in 2022) even tho some of the level design kinda ass

I played on the Master Chief collection with a friend of mine, on Legendary difficulty. Played like I remembered as a kid and the story was fun to go through again having little memory of the events that occur. Definitely would recommend if you have a Saturday to kill and just want something fun to do for the day.

Very influential game, and was interesting to look back on what games used to be like. There are very creative choices, such as weapons like the needler. The enemy AI and open world were revolutionary at the time, and have somewhat held up. The gunplay is basic, but enjoyable. My biggest problem with this game is the map and level design, as in the later parts of the game they drag on. Many of the areas are the exact same, and the game can become a chore to get through. The final level's escape scene was grueling, as the vehicle controls were terrible and every time the Warthog crashed, I misclicked and got into the side or gunner seat instead of the driver. It's a nitpick, but it significantly dampered my excitement of the end. If you're like me, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT binge play this game, you'll get burnt out. I believe the best way to play is in bursts, as there is still enjoyment to be found. I am disapointed by this game, as I expected a classic, and it may be for others but absolutely isn't for me. I wanted to like it, but there was so much that ruined it for me. Lots of people grew up with this game, and I believe if I did as well I'd love it. If you've read this whole thing and are a Halo fan, are the other games any better? Halo 2 and Reach are the only ones I'd play afterword, but I'm so burnt out on shooters and this game left such a poor taste I'm not gonna for a WHILE. have a good day:D

the look and feel of the original halo is seriously underrated and has heavily influenced my taste in gaming, movies, shows, books, etc. no surprise to anyone that most people who played this just switched to the OG graphics lol

The cutscenes are great but I'm not a huge fan of some of the level changes.

Overall great game that holds up well. there are some annoyingly harsh spots you can find yourself in during Heroic difficulty depending on what guns and grenades you have on you at that time but action is still punchy, and story is still very entertaining.

Great fun with a friend, kinda loses something if not, but is still worth your time.
Physics are a bit broken sometimes, game shows its age other times, game's really fun most of the time.
I played this game WAY too much on the Master Chief Collection version because of the achievements for par scores. Can't lie, that adds a ton of replayability, with the amount of skulls. If it was the original version I'd probably go lower, but that level of replayability definitely helps this release's case.
The story's meh, the level design is great in the first half then the second half is backtracking, the final level's kind of annoying with the Warthog physics. Getting thrown around by an exploding Flood is pretty funny though.
I can still recommend this one in 2024 for the most part.

Pretty fun at times, pretty monotonous at times. Felt like there was too much backtracking especially during the last few missions. Navigation sucks as a result. Heroic difficulty felt way much easier compared to Reach. I would have worshipped the game had I played it at the time of its og release cuz it's a remarkable thing to make something like this in 2001. My rating would've really been higher if not for the repeated segments in latter part of the game, I understand older game almost always reuse multiple segments via backtracking like resident evil but this felt like the game could've been really short if not for the repeated segments. Music was good I guess but the placement was very random. Also the most satisfying thing about the game is it's shotgun 🤌🏼, had so much fun blasting enemies with it and it's a shame the 2nd game's shotgun sucks in comparison.

I played the Xbox 360 but I remember feeling the game as a mixed bag. I'll return to play it with the Master Chief collection for a proper better judgement, but I had some issues with the progression of the game and remembering the level design being average.

I didn't expect to love the veichles in this game but honestly enjoyed the sections with them more than the claustrophobic, endlessly repeating levels (yes I'm referring to the library)

Played it with my wife. She likes!

Years later and it still holds up. Level design, music, dialogue and pacing are top notch. It's really amazing how gameplay holds up and I'm kinda surprised at how some design conventions present here are still used in modern games.

One of these most iconic shooters of all time, the weapons, characters enemies verticals all instant classics due to this game. And with the new updated graphics, this game looks better than ever.

An extra large kudos goes to 343 for allowing players to experience this title the way the original creatives intended. Halo is hauntingly atmospheric and much of the magic of the experience lies in the moody environments of each level, even as environments began to re-appear from earlier excursions. Enemy and ally AI ooze character are impressive by today's standards. Grunts running in panic after their leaders are assassinated, flood getting frustrated when missing shots and opting to go out swinging, allies apologizing for friendly fire, so on and so fourth. Gunplay is simple but the Covenant and the Flood offer exactly as much enemy variety is needed to experience Halo's ensemble of extremely fun weaponry.

The back half of the campaign is where the experience begins to chug. The Library and Two Betrayals in particular are significantly longer than they perhaps ought to be and environments that were once breathtaking start to get a little stale on their second go around. Halo: CE would legitimately be one of the best FPS games ever made if each level had just one or two segments scraped off the top.

[Closer to a 7 than a 5]

Los FPS no son muy de mi agrado, pero salvo unas secciones que se hacen tediosas es muy divertido.

Halo deserved better for its anniversary, only not rating it lower cause it's still CE

Second time I've beaten this, and I enjoyed it a lot more this time around. Knowing there was some repetition with some of the levels reusing areas made it less of a chore, bit still dragged it down a bit.

I found a nice rhythm with it this time. Enjoyed making use of the sniper rifle, and the shotgun came in handy against the flood. I think paying attention to the story a bit more this time around helped too. I never used to care, as I just enjoyed blasting space freaks and stealing vehicles.

The updated visuals are nice overall, but in some areas can make it confusing where I needed to go next. No way point and scooby doo corridors had me going the wrong way on more than one occasion.

Otherwise, I've had a good time. Even better than the last time I played it. The games only improve as they go on (well, 5 is the exception, but that's a blip) so I'm looking forward to playing through them all again.
