What a delight! I really enjoyed this one; I know it gets flack for how much of its visual story (and, to a lesser extent gameplay) it borrows from other greats like Zelda, but to be honest I really adored that; I felt like I was 9 again, playing Jak and Daxter on my PlayStation 2 after school. The nostalgia was lovely, and it's fun to see more games playing into the ps2-era stylings and movement that aren't full-on retrobait stuff.

The movement feels good, the boss battles are wonderfully challenging, the world is really beautiful, the soundtrack is GORGEOUS. The story isn't mind-blowingly original, but it does what it aims to do beautifully, and with a lot of affection and tenderness. I loved its study on care and love and how those things can warp a person into the worst, most destructive version of themselves. I definitely teared up a few times.

I only have two real gripes, and one is quite petty. The non-petty one is that the invisible walls and invisible death triggers were a pain; I was regularly barred out from platforming on things that by all accounts looked like places I could platform, and occasionally killed jumping down to places that I absolutely should have been able to reach. Watching Kena's "long fall" death animation trigger four inches above the ground was not great. The pettier one is that the character modeling, particularly of Kena and the Rot, is all very...Disney, in the most generic and boring sense of the name. The environs are beautiful and some of the other characters push the stylization far enough to feel more interesting, but I do wish they'd gone for something more interesting, at least for the Rot. Like, Kena's actual DESIGN is great, I just wish it was on a different model. I'm a little bored of every girl looking like she's trying to be the next Disney princess and the little guys all looking like adorable Disney movie animal sidekicks.

Genuinely, though, those gripes are SO minor overall. I had a great time with the gameplay and the story. Really recommend if "beautiful 10-14 hr game with a banger soundtrack and vibes that feel the way playing all those stellar PlayStation platformers when you were 11 felt" sounds remotely appealing.

good enough ps2-esque platformer

Basically both in playing and backlog though it has more priority than most games. One of my favorites this game is legit one of the only games that is breathtaking for me

• A gameplay é super-fluida!

• A história é linda!

this was such amazing I love it but think should did better on it

I did enjoy the game overall but I had quite a few flaws with it. First the good though, I thought the level design was consistently fun to explore and rewarding throughout. I also thought the combat up to a point was enjoyable but challenging. The art direction is gorgeous and the general presentation is great. However, this game really fell off in the final 3rd for me. I found the bosses not as interesting as the first 2/3rds of the game and I found it pretty overtuned in a lot of ways. I didn't much care for any of the VA work in the game, and the story just in general wasn't very interesting. The audio balance was also weird, the music was sometimes extremely overpowering to the rest of the sounds in the game. My last major issue is the rewards for exploration, while I find the level design itself to be rewarding and fun in how you explore it, the actual rewards you get are mostly cosmetic or currency for said cosmetics, and I found that to be really unsatisfying. I'm fine with some cosmetic rewards, but when it takes up more than half of the reason for exploration it bums me out a bit. There are luckily rewards such as increased health and items that open up other areas that do thankfully give you a bit more, but its not as frequent as I'd hope.

Overall, its a fun game thats enjoyable for a playthrough, and more challenging than i expected, but it has some things holding it back from being truly great to me.

Great animations and graphics, but the game just becomes a bit repetitive after a while. Expected more to be honest.

Had my eyes on this since the PS showcase. It draws some mechanics from various well-established franchises, such as Uncharted for its yellow painting-led one-button climbing and Horizon for its stamina-free dodge, which are delivered in a safe package.

Importantly, don't be fooled by its family-friendly art style or its dreamy score; this game is tough as nails, but in a fun way, rewarding both skill and quick thinking, at least in a normal difficulty playthrough. In the NG+ Master Difficulty playthrough, things take a turn for the worse, and the game can become quite frustrating, with the protagonist feeling significantly underpowered.

Alongside the rewarding combat, the sound design is also particularly commendable, but there also are some questionable design choices, such as the use of the game currency that is only used for minor cosmetic changes. By the end of the game, I found myself with over 3000 of these Crystal, unsure of what to do with them.

Hey, if I say that this game has nothing else except its cutesie aesthetic, how will you defend it ?
Atleast for me, there isnt any defense, it is bland and boring, a slightly modified soulslike combat system and a generic boring save the world as the chosen one story that I just did not connect with.
I do not see much value in this game , there are better cutesie games like ori. There are better soulslike games like...well .. dark souls. Still if it really gelled together I would be appreciating it. Nioh is just a faster souls game in japan, overthrown by sekiro for most people. Yet, I loved it.
This doesnt work well enough for me to be even close to that. Very forgettable, very generic. Not very fun. Cannot recommend it with a good conscience.

It's hard to believe how such a small indie developer simply releases this masterpiece as their first game, WTF....I'm still speechless. What big studios fail at, Kena manages with ease: a likeable protagonist whose fate really gets to you, a beautifully designed world, great level design and, on top of that, challenging, really well designed and (almost) not unfair boss fights. I am blown away. The storyline is quite simple, but the "little" stories of the ghosts you accompany really touched me, every single one of them. I didn't think the game would get so close to me, but I was absolutely gripped by it. Just how great the game looks and how lovingly but also masterfully crafted the animations and cutscenes are, is unbelievably amazing. It feels a bit like the films Avatar and Princess Mononoke have been made into a Souls-like game, a dream come true for me. If I ever have a daughter, I really want to play this with her :)

i gave it a try because it looked disney like and the combat was superb

Very interresting, the musicien was impressive, really better of many AAA

I was prepared to be charitable - first game, they haven't found their footing, etc, but everything tied to the combat needed another iteration or two, which stopped the bosses being cool and sapped the enjoyability of later encounters. A frustrating experience that shouldn't have been.

Kena is an enjoyable experience with great music, a fantastic art style, and simple yet satisfying combat. However, it's held back from greatness due to being a bit too much of a collect-a-thon with tons of redundant activities for my taste. I also dislike some of the voice acting performances, including that of Kena herself. It was often saccharine and unnatural.

Still, the rot spirits are cute little dibbies.

Completed the first area. I stopped because it was beginning to feel like a chore.

a beautiful and challenging experience, although the animation is basically disney: the video game and the story is, for lack of a better word, uninspired. the cartoony artwork and simplistic script feels like it's designed for children but the difficult boss fights feel like they're made for adults, so it's a little hard to gather what the target audience is and how harshly i should be judging all the elements together.
