(I will say I did not really engage with the New Game+ at all, it felt like a little too much which kind of plays into my overall feelings about this game)

In terms of a remaster, I think this is a really good example of how to approach them in a general sense. A new look that doesn't ruin the original's aesthetic and differs slightly but not too much to be radically different, an expansion on the core game & some extras added in to spice things up. However, this might also be an example of a little too much of a good thing. While this is the pretty standard Kirby experience throughout with the central gimmick of Ultra Powers being...fine, I guess, it felt like there was a real content bloat here that felt like trying to finish a whole birthday cake by myself (which I guess also works as an analogy for the syrupy nature of the Kirby series).

Even just trying to finish the main game while taking time to get the minigame tickets & extra lives felt like a bit of a time slog on it's own, not to mention trying to get all the Dress-Up masks & achievements in the park. The minigames, the level design, all that was pretty standard issue Kirby stuff but it just felt like an obligation near the endpoint. I think this is broken up a little by the more interesting Magolor side game, which almost seems like a test run for the game engine to branch out into different game styles that still adhere to a general Kirby formula. The idea of an upgrade system & the different moveset was enough to keep me going for the short runtime, so I think that more than anything else was the biggest pull in this game for me. A fun enough traditional Kirby game but too bloated & familiar to be one of my favorites.

Maybe the best Kirby game outside of Forgotten Land

"Poyo~!" - The last words that a random enemy hears moments before meeting Sakurai's star child.

Kirby's adventure on the wii turned Switch title still tickles me maximum pink to this day! This game is always my bestest dream friend ever! Hal's paramount title always brings me a smile I'll gladly return with no cost. The ability selection is still tight, with newcomers Sand and Mecha being welcome surprises. And seeing how Magolor went about changing careers to a micro transaction manager was an pufftastic bonus. This game really set a good standard that it's successors have followed to T. And that's not even getting to the core lore of this series....

the original title means too much to me to be objective about its remake : what can I say ecept that this is one of my favourite games of all-time ?? I already love the original so much, this version just makes everything perfect :
- superb new artstyle and updated models
- great untouched level design and main campaign with a juicy amount of new content (the Magolor side-story is AWESOME)
- BANGIN' SOUNDTRACK
- loads of new minigames to enjoy, that are made even more easily accessible, it's like having a small party game inside your cool 2D platformer

(if we ever get the same treatment for the 3DS titles i can die in peace)

pretty awesome remaster of a game that came out at least a decade ago now; if you've never played a kirby game, and want to play one, i'd recommend this one or super star ultra

man i love kirby. after over 10 years i forgive magolor

Kirby'nin yetenek sayisi o kadar fazla ki durmadan yeni bir yetenek gormek beni cok mutlu etti. Oyunu cok begendim fakat bosslari zayif. Yeteneklerdeki yaraticiligi bosslarda da gormek isterdim.

my childhood game on the switch with an amazing new mode on the side. I would LOVE a full game in the style of the magalor mode it was so much fun

Kirby remains the master of sucking and blowing while remaining wholesome.

Como alguien que no jugó el original, fue un buen juego, que sí me gustó mucho el agregado, pero si ya lo has jugado... posiblemente no valga la pena a menos que sí seas fan.

If I ever have time to write a longer review…it was ok. I had my issues with it, but it was fun. Did everything but the boss rush mode.

The ultimate co-op Kirby experience, which at this point was basically co-op Smash Bros. The whole "you need to use that power on this obstacle" thing doesn't work well when it brings a four-player run to a stop, but it's great fun at least 90% of the time.

The game was originally fun, and the remake only improves it by adding great stuff, what more can I say? It might as well be the best Kirby experience on home consoles ever

Never played the wii version and was excited to finally play it, I dont get the hype

Return to Dream Land was already my favorite kirby game by a long shot on the Wii. This remaster did nothing to worsen it, in fact it did the impossible: make better what was already perfect! Top favorite games of all time both on Wii and now on Switch!

A beautifully well-crafted platformer that never-the-less has never really given me the "itch", so to speak. I tend to bounce off it. This remake is really impressive though, they stuffed this thing with new content.

Best Kirby game I played, very biased.

P.S. Magolor is the best.

solid kirby game, but nothing super special to me.

Level design is baby-simple at times. Puzzles are hardly puzzles at all. Multiplayer is poorly designed and hard to follow sometimes.

I played it on Wii when I was young, but this is game is always a masterpiece. The Magolor Epilogue is truly remarkable, and I sincerely hope that HAL Laboratory will reserve some unexpected surprises regarding antagonists in future games.

A solid 2D Kirby game.

A great remake of one of Kirby's critically acclaimed games.

The new abilities are fun to use and the Ultra Abilities are also fun to use.

The artstyle is pretty good going for a more comic book aesthetic.

Like other Kirby games, the game is generally easy but does have harder content available.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is exactly what I want from a 2D Kirby game.

+ The gameplay is amazing and not too repetitive because Kirby has 25 different power ups, which is way more than Mario ever had. The Levels are different enough from each other to not feel redundant but the level design could have been better.

+ On top of the Main Campaign you have a tone of fun side content like, challenge levels, mini-games and a whole epilogue where you play as another character.

+ The Bosses are awesome. Most games nowadays have boring bosses that don't utilize the full extent of the gameplay. But not Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe. In this game, the bosses were the best moments I've had.

IT WAS ALRIGHT. I heavily prefer the original, but I'm GLAD they're giving one of my favourite Kirby antagonists some thought.

No começo eu não estava achando o jogo tão bom por já ter jogado a duologia 3DS, mas a partir do quinto mundo, ele não fica só muito bom, mas também surpreendentemente dificil para um jogo do Kirby. muito bom

Kirby games usually bore me so I waited on this one, but for some reason on New Year’s Eve I decided to spend all night with it.

Solid Kirby game, I’ve never played Planet Robobot but I did play Triple Deluxe and Star Allies, and I think I liked this the most.

The level design of the original game is definitely very dated, the new content added like the Magalor Epilogue is leagues better in terms of level design and has greater original bosses which I won’t spoil. this game showcases HAL laboratory’s improvement in the past 12 years. I completed the game 100% and got around 27 hours worth of gameplay from it. A pretty good purchase of a remake of one of my childhood games. Unfortunately though I can definitely see a lot of the flaws of the original game shining through on this one.
