A great ending to snake ottacon and overall most mgs characters only 1 issue i have with the game is the fact all of the boss fights are fucking shit.

The writing is obnoxiously bad. Some parts of the game are tedious. One of the easiest games I've ever played.

no one gave a game so cinematic like kojima. he satisfies my heart

A mess, but a beautiful one at that.

Being the Final Metal Gear Solid game that I believe it to be the best ending to the canonical story ever. Everything is so perfect, the relationships Otacon shares, the conversation between Big Boss and Snake at the end of the game made me cry as it made me realize everything really is coming to an end. I love metal gear solid. Absolutely phenomenal Kojima.

Some might hate on the long cutscenes, but this game deserved it. It felt like a worthy end to a series hero, but the gameplay itself lacked a bit, especially compared to the other top-tier installments in the series.

I bought a PS3 just to play this

This is the WORST way to introduce yourself into the Metal Gear Solid series, seriously, WHAT THE FUCK was going on all the time?

This is good, isn’t it?

This is a complicated game with complicated feelings, this is a game that has consistently some of the most needlessly convoluted and outright bad writing in the series. This is some of the lowest lows the series ever has.

But the amount of tears shed, the amount I think about this game and how much I adore the ending. Your enjoyment of this really rides on how much you let its emotions wash over you and I am nothing if not sentimental.

This is not flawless, this is flawed as all hell. I would prefer this game to remain like this forever, in its unfiltered, unchanged state, for the future to witness.

I know the criticisms around this game are centered around some of the pacing, cutscenes and how cheesy it can get but honestly all of that didn’t really take away from my experience that much and especially by the end I really was glad to experience it all

The culmination of 20 years of game narrative pays off in full as the story of Solid Snake comes to a satisfying close.

If the last game was a great entry point for newcomers, this game is the antithesis of that. Sure, you might enjoy the gameplay flow and recognize good performances from the cast when you see them, but the game DOES NOT hold your hand. This is a game made entirely for the fans. And as a fan, I can say in confidence it just might be the best in the series.

Molaba pero el multijugador era muy complejo de entender la verdad.

fan service

pero como fan pues me lo meto por el culo

For people who grew up with the MGS series, this is enough to make grown men cry

MGS4 feels like an experimental MGS game, which is certainly not what someone would want to hear about the second to last game in a 5-game series. Yet so many of the elements of this game feel antithetical to what makes stealth fun, that I can't help but wonder if this was some sort of death throe for the series before PW and 5 were a thing (which isn't to mention that the story is the most "LOOK AT ALL THE THREADS WE CLOSED" plot I've ever seen).
Buying suppressors after having to scavenge for them in MGS3 is the most insane setback that that game added to the series. Buying weapons in general defeats a lot of what makes progression in this series what it is. Octocamo removes the elements of finding places to hide, and simply makes in so that crawling everywhere is the most efficient way to not be seen.
MGS4 IS a necessary step in MGS's story, but MGS4 WAS a mistake.

ship so good they got married in the end (won't say who)

Just finished my Chicken Emblem playthrough. Going for the platinum.

Maximalist bullshit with a big heart that is also great fun. I borrowed a ps3 from a friend so I could play this but I’m thinking of buying one for myself so I can pop this in whenever I want. The iPod is dope, this game fucks.

The most epic MGS game ever! It had an intense, edgy, epic, and a little bit goofy storyline.

It may be wrong to give this game so much credit, considering how little game is in here. But the gameplay that exists is some of the best in its class, only furthered by all the little touches, and quality of life additions. The best part about the story is you can go make dinner, eat it, head to bed, and wake up in the morning ready to play when the gameplay starts back up again.

This game is really special to me. I have never been so happy for a game being so good. It just wrapped up my metal gear experience so well that I just cried at the end.

Positives:

-This game solidified Snake as my favourite character of all time

-Ocelot is my favourite antagonist in metal gear

-this game has my favourite boss fight of all time. The bosses are all unique in general.

-I was just as much screaming at all the action as I was glued to the screen just enjoying the quiet moments. The codec is only 2 people now, and I only call one of them. And it's really good. But it's fine here because the party is actually physically together and always shift to them just doing mundane stuff and having the best chemistry. It's perfect.

-Surprisingly exceptional gun variety and customization. Not just guns you are basically kevin levin in this game touch anything and you look like it I had so much fun with it.

Negatives:

-Too much fanservice. And character wise most bosses are meh.

-The rose plotline is fucked she is the worst character in the series.

Finally plugged in my PS3 and played this. Fucking amazing. It's tied with the first Metal Gear Solid as my favourite game ever.

I think I'm actually going to TRY to platinum the game.

I lied when I said the first game had the best title screen/menu of any game, this one has that.

This game is a bunch of 10/10 moments held together by a 5/10 game

beautiful history, gameplay meh

This game is like kojima giving fans everything they want but crossing his arms and doing it angrily. Oh? Oh u want to play as solid snake again? U thought raiden was lame? Ok, here, you’re snake and he’s old and lame and has back problems and raiden is a badass lightning ninja cyborg now. Remember snake’s girl from mgs1? Poopy pants Johnny just married her. He’s not as good at sneaking as u are, player, but he is nice. It’s no accident that every other character ends the game dancing and chilling at a wedding together and snake/player is wasting his short remaining days being exposited to. Spending more and more time being stuck within the metal gear story, milking and draining every bit of information from it until eventually the player hates it. The game gives you fanservice the same way eating lasagna every meal for every day wil give u lasagna poisoning. I feel it’s a critique of the culture where everything is theorized and discussed and answers for every mystery are demanded. The game’s so stuck within itself that every boss is a remix of an old one. You literally press x to see pictures of whatever metal gear moment this scene references. I’m not qualified at all to talk about meta commentary and stuff but there’s a part in this game where snake asks why they kept big boss’ body alive. She says “because people need their hero to stay forever” and looks directly at the camera. I don’t think it’s really an avoidable topic when discussing this game.

I love Kojima but this is prob his most flawed dialogue and exemplifies a lot of problems I have with his later games stories. This and peace walker are the only mainline mgs games I’ve never replayed. There’s obviously too many cutscenes and the gameplay segments are mediocre after the first act. The game’s psych meter system is an interesting concept to shift the physical health first aid care system from mgs3 to mental health and make it more about ptsd, but it does quite literally nothing with it. The therapist character on your codec doesn’t even give you therapy she just says to wait in the corner until ur stress level goes down. Or says some shit like “the boss you’re fighting, unhappy armadillo, is unhappy. According to psychology, this is caused by lack of happiness. Good luck snake.” The bosses are terrible and the boss roster themselves have no personality (unless you like their wattpad trauma backstory that is omnisciently told to you by the gun merchant after you beat them) which is such a downgrade from every other game’s boss rosters, every single one of which I would have a drink with. I don’t even drink but I would defile my sacred mouth with the poison that is alcohol just to make fatman or sniper wolf or the pain happy. But there’s much to appreciate with what this game does.

“Don’t waste the life you have left fighting”
=
“Stop playing this video game 😡”

Maybe I’m completely illiterate or I’m projecting but my interpretation is valid and yeah. Also the ray fight and the ocelot fight are amazing. The end. Sry for the serious review.
