There are moments when I really enjoy this game (combat, dungeon crawling, yusuke) and there are others where I hate it. There's a lot to like here, but I found the overly repetitive dialogue and thematic dissonance too intrusive for me to fully be into it. I'm also not a huge fan of the characters, although I see how others would be.

Took me 80 hours in both this and Persona 3 FES to realize that I just don’t jive with these games.

Most of what I liked about this game is its aesthetics, the soundtrack, and a lot of character designs. As strong as that is though, I just couldn’t be bothered to slog through the seemingly endless wait for things to happen in the story. The dungeons were exceptionally easy and usually done with in a single trip, the pressure to raise all my social stats every day a Confidant was unavailable was mind numbing, and Mementos presented me the same boredom that Tartarus did in 3 FES when I wanted to kill time with the combat system.

I’m sure this game has its moments in the end, but I just can’t justify spending another minute finding out.

With each Persona I have finished I felt like that one was my favorite, but with this one I do think both story and gameplay wise this is my actual favorite. It took over 100 hours to beat, a journey for sure, but a journey worth taking. I think it landed on the sweet spot where I felt okay with letting it go, but at the same time wishing for a little more.

I have enjoyed every single aspect of the game, be it building Confidant ranks, exploring Mementos or infiltrating the Palaces, in which the addition of the Memory Seeds made it worth crawling through every corner and every vent.

I could talk about this game a lot but it would venture on spoiler territory, so I’ll simply leave it at ‘The best game I played this year so far.’

I can not give any Atlus title that is a re-release with an extra dungeon 5 stars, but finding a way to improve Persona 5 and making it a tighter experience earns some respect

The best game i've ever played, truly a masterpiece.

gameplay graphic style characters(ish) arcanas storyline personas combat dungeons - good however DLC was peak
hot take needed more suzui..

One of the greatest RPG's of all time. This is where the persona series peaks. It might not be my favorite but it's clearly great. Amazing social links/lovable characters and the combat is the most polished in the series.

Also (and this goes for every persona game), the soundtrack is fucking amazing. Everything about this games aesthetic made it just that much of a better experience.

The third semester adds a lot for some of the characters that I think pushes this game as better than the original persona 5

Third semester makes the character so much better

Almost 200 Hours in this, still not done. One of the best games I have ever fucking played. Wish 4th palace final boss was a bit less annoying.

main character motivation and thus story is kinda dumb compared to 4

A game that helped me through the pandemic in its early stages, the improvements made from base P5 make it almost impossible to go back in my eyes with the new best villain in the franchise to boot

Eu ja cheguei a jogar o p5 original, wnd eu fui jogar esse q tava no game pass eu parei de jogar pois eu fiquei mt tempo e mementos e morri , mas tipo a historia é media

Literally the only good thing in this game is the fact it let me turn Goro Akechi into my attic wife, if not for that I wouldn't have bothered completing it by the 50th day of literally nothing happening.

best turned based combat i've ever experienced with an immaculate story and so much content its insane, best gameplay loop ever with story and combat being separate yet interlinked at the same time

An amazing extended edition of the prior Persona 5, the last third of the game (3rd Semester) is some of the best in gaming, and tells a magnificent story with an enriching soundtrack.

i am not immune to akechi goro or kitagawa yusuke

can't tell if it's just the time between me playing p5 initially as a teenager and playing royal now or if there are that many changes to the experience (playing with the female protagonist mod probably helped a bit), but royal made me fall in love with persona 5 again.
the game still has its issues; ann and ryuji are treated terribly, morgana is still not nearly as compelling of a character as the game seems to think he is, the okumura arc is still not great, and haru/makoto are still without much substance, etc. etc. likewise however the game still hits a great stride with sae's palace onward, and the new third semester content makes that stride even better.
akechi was already the best character in base game and giving him more of a spotlight was one of the best choices atlus has ever made. maruki and the story and themes of the third semester in general are also some of the best work atlus has put out in a long time as pretty much anyone will tell you, but sadly yoshizawa does not hit that same mark at all. she's definitely at least somewhat compelling near the end of it all but i really don't think she was important enough to be like the biggest head on the boxart and i do think i would've preferred her as just a female protagonist option or something.
playing royal honestly made me stop feeling insane seeing people i know talk about how great persona 5 was after my impressions of vanilla made way for me not really caring all that much, and while it isn't the best persona game (it isn't even the best out of the modern trilogy lol) it's a really great time and i'm glad i wasted 100+ hours of my life again on this one. you really just have to take modern persona for what it is instead of what you want it to be and you'll end up enjoying yourself a lot, i think

You'll never have more friends in real life than this game will offer you. Or, at least, you'll never take those friends along for a ride against injustice in the way this game offers you.

Meu jogo favorito. O primeiro da franquia de Persona q eu já joguei e minha porta de entrada de verdade para os JRPGS. Persona 5 Royal é muito especial pra mim em diversas maneiras.

One of the most well polished rpgs of the modern age, and they didn't even compromise on writing or story. Thats really rare nowadays...

The best game I have ever played, amazing characters, an engaging story (even more engaging combat system).
I never wanted to put the game down, always wanting to keep going because both the gameplay and story hooked me so much.
Also the OST is phenomenal, absolute masterclass, as well as the "style" of the game (Menus, UIs, etc)
10/10
