Yeah, it's whatever, but maybe I would play more Pokémon games if you could actually beat the shit out of them.

My son and I have fun playing this game. Everytime he plays Machamp, I always lose.

the single player is pretty slight and a little bit tiresome by the end, and the online, while less dead than you might expect, is relatively inaccessible since almost everyone still playing this has been doing so for years now and are very good at it. but i still think this is an excellent fighting game at its core. exceedingly simple and intuitive with enough depth to sustain real competitive play. one of the better entry points to the genre i’ve played; you can pick up any character and do rad shit with them right away just mashing while still learning the fundamentals of both 2d and 3d fighters with the phase system which i mostly enjoyed despite the initial awkwardness. also just really satisfying to play a pokemon game that looks and feels this good. obviously they had significant advantages with the roster (some very cool, creative picks in there alongside some of the ones you’d expect) being as limited as it is compared to mainline pokemon games and whatnot but this really puts all the 3d entries to shame in terms of character animation and battles actually looking cool. shame the pokemon company essentially let this die; they really had something here

How have I not yet ranked Pokken Tournament?!?!?! I would give anything for a refined, larger roster in a sequel. Underrated game, and like how it plays.

I give Pokken Tournament DX a 7!

i played this like once as a demo and i liked it i want it

I love this game to bits but please just play tekken instead

A 3rd person pvp fighting game based on pokemon. I played it for a little bit, but dropped it ever since.

poorly executed, confusing camera, but hey at least you can fight with pokemon. There's potential for a good sequel

Really cool concept, was never super good at it, but unique and interesting take

I think this is a really underrated Pokemon spinoff. It has a lot of potential, but the game's lack of updates led to a unbalanced final patch. The new content added in DX is crazy but is still nice. Most of the new Pokemon added are really fun to play. Good single-player content, and ok multiplayer.
Final score: 7/10

The game is fun when playing with family or friends.

i lost my copy i wanna find it i love this game

literally so boring less than a party game

It gets repetitive after a while and the roster is far too limited. On the other hand, the visuals are stunning and I hope the future mainline games will adopt the models they used in this game.

this game is actually really fun but for some reason every time i buy it i trade it in again 5 months down the line. happened with the original game on wii u as well...

designs in this game are hit or miss

Just ok, I expected a little more from this. I mean, the battle are every Pokémon fan wet dream, but aside from that, the great avatar customization and some decent graphics for a Wii U game, there isn't anything really worth it.

Fun, but why did I buy the controllers for this lol

I had an amount of fun with it, but the game itself is just very unbalanced. Several characters feel almost unplayably bad compared to some of the better ones. Combine that with the immense simplicity and you have an... ok fighting game.
