a little repetitive but only lasts 5ish hours if you focus on the main stuff, which i did. overall super rad tho, plot is very thin but VIBES are aplenty. combat is super solid and challenging enough too. also quite horny????

Bazen küsuratlar önemli olabiliyo- AMAAAN, FUCK IT; zaten puan vermesini beceremiyorum.

Prime example of vibe and soundtrack elevating a mechanically clunky and weightless game into "cool" tier. I can't even imagine how hard this would've exploded today though, being a cyberpunk story where you play as a silent murderguy in a cool mask that gets called "puppy" by a techgirl that makes cutesy poses when you win fights

AMAZING atmosphere, soundtrack, and gameplay. I love this game so much

The only people that ruin my life are women

Hotline Miami but not hard or being very interesting

Imported from my Backloggery:

RUINER was an interesting one... The thing that I loved most about this game was the pacing, throughout the game, there was little to no exposition, they just said 'go' which made this feel much less boring than it could be. The combat was so dry, however. Switching guns throughout combat encounters keeps you on your toes, but it just ended up feeling like Hotline Miami but with less strategy. I loved the worldbuilding and the art direction, but the 3D was rough. The 2D stuff was cool though.

Good Shoot'em up. Nothing more.

Very stylish, very cohesive, short game with simple gameplay but fantastic otherwise. Compelling world. Awakened something in me.

This game is very, very fun. Nothing inherently wrong with the gameplay at all and it is clearly skill based. I didn't care for the story at all, but it's alright. This isn't my kind of game though, the closest thing I'd compare it to is Hotline Miami. I can easily recommend this game for those who loved that game, it is a very fun game nonetheless.

i'm so fucking bad at this game. i'm not sure if you're supposed to play it with a controller. truly this is one of those rare times where, no matter what adjustments i made, i couldn't get my steam controller to feel good with this game. i dunno, maybe it's just hard or i'm just bad. it's absurdly pretty with a great soundtrack. it feels like the combat was well-designed but i know absolutely nothing about twin-stick shooters. story is excessively average. there are better cyberpunk games out there, but (with the exception of Transistor) none of them look as cool as this one.

confusing story. dripping with style. pretty fun shooting and movement mechanics

100 bosses but not the final one
6,0/10 - Length
5,0/10 - Enjoyment
8,5/10 - Perfomance/Bugs
3,5/10 - Story/Experience
5,0/10 - Gameplay

Score = 5,6/10

Hotline miami-esque, with its own sense of style and action. The game will challenge you in it's later half but it is carried by its art direction.

I didn't play this game for long but I already know it's a banger. At least when it comes to the story which I consider to be fenomenal. But maybe that's because I'm a fan of Hotline Miami and this game reminds me alot of it. The soundtrack is amazing and the visuals looks fucking sick. A lot of the characters looks terrifying and just pure evil. However what I feel like this game fails at is that the narrator voice gets annoying quick. I'm talking about the one saying "KILL BOSS!" over and over. I also consider the game to be challenging right of the start the game and that the different skills makes the game hard to learn. Would love to pick it up again whenever I have the time.

I'm aware that Ruiner is a 'simple' game; there's nothing extraordinary about its plot, and its duration is short - you can finish the main story in a maximum of 5 hours. Still, there is something about it that makes it quite special for me. Some of the great aspects of Ruiner, in my opinion, include: the scenery, the aesthetics, the penetrating red color everywhere, the gameplay, the architectural design, the weapons arsenal, not to mention the cool Puppy's helmet. The pinnacle of Ruiner is undoubtedly its soundtrack! I've played it many times, both on Xbox and PlayStation. It's obvious that Reikon put a lot of effort and love into this game, as everything is so well done. In a nutshell, if you're looking for a game with a straightforward storyline and lots of violence and blood, Ruiner is perfect for you!

god the art style is soooo good and the music is BANGERRRRRR
i see why the physical copies go for like 60$ and i would pay that if i wasn’t a brokie. nonetheless i like the plot twist. not extremely unique but well fitting for a game like this. only qualm i have is that IM LEFT ON A CLIFFHANGER “meet me where heaven falls” maaaaan fuck u. even with the cliffhanger tho it’s a good standalone and doesn’t feel like it needs a pt2 to be complete.

The best "hotline miami" clone ever and with just fucking great music

Oh, this goes hard. Just the art alone is chef's kiss.

Definitely worth a play- not too long, about 8ish hours, with great atmosphere and music. Interesting fighting system, but sadly not enough levels/content to explore it fully. Could definitely be a solid 30-hour game with more varied level design.

sick visuals and music but kinda lackluster gameplay

I'd like to propose that from now on every game should have a pretty woman calling you "puppy"

played this game in one sitting and was in a state of complete confusion and disorder at like 8 AM. The art, music, and combat go really hard, but there's not much in this beyond the aesthetic

The combat is absolutely amazing. Something about the sound effects, music and the way "SHE" announces combos for you makes it feel so satisfying and addictive. The music in particular is amazing.

Ruiner is incredibly stylish. While I wish it had some more colors, I felt this was one of the best cyberpunk worlds in a video game, as small as it was.

While the story wasn't very important, it had some pretty smart themes, with fairly likeable characters throughout.

Such a great atmosphere. The world of RUINER is intriguing, but it leaves you longing for a little more in comparison to what it's actually giving you. The dystopian and dangerous world of Rengkok is captivating. From the corrupt corporations to drugged up maniacs, the game is throwing all of the worlds Evil at you. Top-down shooters are definitely not my cup of tea on a personal level, but RUINER is an exception. Now, that's not to say RUINER does anything better than other top-down shooters; but that's not the focus of the game I feel like. It's just a necessary ingredient to remind us that oh yeah, this is a game. For me, RUINER is more about the struggle of finding your place in a world where no one wants you, than it is about exciting boss battles. It's about the survival and overcoming obstacles, but it's not the gameplay that pumps me up to do so. It's the overall world-building and story developments that keep me going, wanting for more. Honestly, if it wasn't for the phenomenal soundtrack that mostly consists of songs from the talented and unique ZAMILSKA, I think the gameplay would've gotten old real quick. Game has tons of potential for a sequel, so I'll be waiting for that until the end of time; my time.

The girl's hot, and the soundtrack slaps.

underrated better than nothing

havent played this in a while but i think it's funny that this is where i learned about susumu hirasawa, tempting me to reinstall it one day if i want to do like a thumbstick shooter marathon
