Los 8€ peor invertidos de mi vida. Gracias Paco

Didnt expect enjoying a turn based strategy game so much

i continued playing civ 5 instead. the UI on console is so hard to get with anyway.

o jogo é bão, mas a ia é meio letárgica

2024 update. got into several civ holes for about 2 months in dec/jan and had a lot of fun. the game is more fun now with expansions and mods. yippee!

Super trop cool entre pote en plus on peut jouer la Mongolie avec les dlc ya genghis khan bah classique quoi.

This is one of the coolest games to play with friends. And to drop nuclear bombs on them.

Solo is also cool, but if possible, play with friends.

As a fan of civilization games (3 was the first one I played back in the day) and strategy games in general, I was very disappointed with this one. Not a fan of the direction they took, its way too cartoony, too much micromanagement, felt too slow and unrealistic. I played a few games to see if it clicked but I wasn’t having fun with it. It’s not the worst, but older civ games are better.

Civ VI is the most recent entry in the series, and it really does keep up the series reputation of being a marvelous strategy game. I really enjoyed this game but personally I didn't enjoy it more than V. Sometimes less is more, and VI tried adding depth to everything compared to V, which rubbed me the wrong. The District system is the main standout of where VI shines, since now playing wide (building many cities) is more viable, since you want more cities with more districts, specializing those cities by the Districts you plop down in them. Visually on the map, it makes cities look pretty cool as well.

But there are a lot of changes in this game I just hate compared to V. I hate that Religious Victory can creep on you if you're not ready, and the way Religious units have full on Baldur's Gate Sorcerer battles is really silly. I hate that Workers are charges instead of actual support units. I hate that you can't build roads until the mid-game and have to rely on the roads Caravans make with their pathing. I could spend a lot of the day poking holes in VI's unncessarily complex design choices, but really, it is a good game still. Just not my cup of tea compared to V. And I think many agree, because at the time of writing, Civ's playerbase is still significantly split between V and VI. Civ VI strays around 40K players, while V strays around 20K players. That's a pretty big split of players, and it's clear VI didn't quite appeal to all fans of the series.

I know some complain about the artstyle, and I get that too. I think VI's artstyle will age better in the long run compared to V's, but I hate how cartoony the leaders look personally. I think for VII, a blend of the two would be good. Colorful artstyle for the world space, with more realistic-looking leaders would be nice.

Also, Firaxis really needs to release the DLL for the game. The game really tries to engender mod support by allowing achievements to be earned even with mods, having a Steam workshop, a mod menu in-game, making it so mods are streamlined to work properly in Multiplayer without effort, and etc. Leader abilities are separate from Civs so that it's easier to make alternate Leaders.

But many notable modders don't seem to have any passion for VI modding as opposed to V, which still sees mod support fairly often. Yeah, there are great mods from great creators, but it feels like they've fizzled out over time. Release the DLL Firaxis. It'll make people really start modding this game the way they do V.

Score: 88

Sid Meier's Civilization VI is a game that defied my expectations and drew me into the world of turn-based strategy in a way I hadn't experienced before. As someone who hadn't played any Civilization games prior, I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and complexity that this game offered. One of the games with the most hours played on Steam.

I don’t really know what to say. What started as a game I only picked up to play with friends quickly became a huge hyperfixation. Scratched an itch I got when I first played Catan, but the the thing about Catan is I understand every aspect of that game and I feel like 50% of what’s going on is just happening around me. It’s got the “amount of shit” dialed up to 11 and every game is LONG. Like, video game length instead of board game length so I get so bored! Never finished a full game and I can’t imagine I will anytime soon because once I’ve stayed up past 3am playing a game I officially see it as an evil I must resist with the power of the Lord beside me.

time waster number 6 (really good)

Quiero meterme en este juego, se me da de culo ahora mismo, pero cuando lleve unas cuantas horas daré mi opinión sobre este juego

Sanity preserving during the pandemic! I love how this game provides hours of entertainment, gradually teaches about history, and accounts for all sorts of warfare!

Love this game but it has the same issue as a lot of management sims - each campaign is more or less automated 2/3rds in so it's all upkeep for 2 hours of gameplay until you win.

the gameplay loop is insanely addicting and so appealing bruh, i spent way too much time playing this last week

Off to a rocky start, but by far and away my favorite civilization experience to date. 2k hours and counting

Really well made but I think it could have a bit more depth to it and a bit more to do.

I played the hell out of Civ III back in the day but then didn't play IV or V (except for brief experiences with console ports, which were basically unbearable to play; this series really needs a mouse) so I'm not comparing this to the prior couple of entries.

I also have basically no experience with the 4X genre, which always intrigues me but is often intimidating to traverse the learning curve and/or too complicated for me to wrap my head around. Civ VI is complicated and intricate but is also intuitive enough to figure out as you move along, and it helps that it starts off so small and gradually expands, unlike some other games in the genre that thrust you into control of a whole kingdom or galaxy with dozens of different meters and resources and whatnot to manage right off the bat. Basically, Civ VI is more approachable and also made me eager to try other 4X games.

Marking as complete after getting my first victory, though I'm not done digging into the game by any stretch. (I don't think I ever finished a campaign in Civ III (I was like 10, gimme a break.))

Finished a campaign just to see why my friend loved it so much. Just not for me that I would even dare give it a rating.

Very good game that just admittedly doesn't feel quite as compelling/replayable as Civ IV or V. The district system was a good idea (making cities less cluttered), and it's got a lot of personality. I do wish that the AI wasn't so erratic, and some of the other systems (espionage, diplomacy) were not so roughly designed
