Soundtrack is peak. Visuals are beautiful. In my memory the gameplay itself was quite fun, although by the end it got to being a tad frustrating.
But it absolutely needs to be said this game is kinda jank. Like genuinely is there a single person out there who has beat this game on the Nintendo Switch version? Cause I got to a point where it would crash at the 3rd world no matter what and I contacted the devs and they said they'd patch it but it never updated. I have yet to see evidence of that version being playable. I had to buy the steam version in order to beat this game. Tho at least I get the added bonus of being able to buy the OST dlc. That was the one saving grace...
Edit: upon scrolling down I see that there is at least one person who has beaten this game on switch, so that is news to me. Still think it needed to be said. Also yeah that final boss sucks, like jeez.

kinda stumbled in some places but the amazing platforming more than makes up for it.

EXTREMELY fun moments of momentum surrounded by some boring moments and the final boss that was one of the worst performing segments I’ve ever seen in a game

Great challenge platformer. The story is lacking a little and its frustrating but that's kind of what I expect from the genre

I loved this game, but I can't recommend it to everyone due to its "weird" difficulty. The control is something you need to get used to, since it isn't well explained regarding how it works, but the first levels are forgiving enough for you to take your time with it. The level select areas may be a bit confusing, but it isn't too much of a hassle.

It's a difficult game, and unlike other similar platformers like Super Meat Boy and The End is Nigh, the levels don't consist in several screens or sections, so it's more like Dustforce, where the levels are either big and complex, or short if you work your way around them.

I played it for like five minutes, but it was pretty.

If this was another precise platformer I'd be all over it. But the flying mechanics make it a bit too unpredictable and floaty for me to enjoy

a game that asks for the insane precision of IWBTG with the bumbling controls of the mario 64 wing cap. truly absurd!

i feel guilty dogging on indie games like this but this one really didn't do it for me. to the game's credit, the first 3/4ths of it are pretty good - zooming through levels is super satisfying, and it's a ton of fun to keep your momentum up for as long as possible. also the artstyle is absolutely fantastic.

it's when the game decides to crank up the difficulty and hit you with frame-perfect jumps and 15 minute levels that shit starts to go south. not to mention that this game conceptually does not mesh well with insane touhou boss fights but they decided to put one in anyway. i think pretty much every platformer i've played has been more forgiving than this one - in later levels you literally need to be perfect at every point, or you'll just fucking die at the same spot over and over.

i'd say to an extent i had some fun with it, but the game gets a lot worse as it goes on. shout out to itchio bundles for getting me this on the cheap though

The momentum aspect made this a fun challenge that felt great when you got it right. Love me a good platformer

Dustforce on crack. Extremely underrated little gem even if the final boss is ass.

When I think of platformers I think of fluidity, difficulty and tight controls. Now, imagine a momentum based platformer where the character slips and is capped at 30 fps.

That's my experience with King's Bird. The game is visually nice, and I was going to play it thinking it was a metroidvania until I go to a hub and see that there are levels and I was like ughh

If you don't like flying in mario 64, like you really hated it, then you're going to not like this game.

An aesthetically gorgeous game not only in its sillhouette presentation but also in its music that matches your gliding for the singing voice, giving you a sense of empowerment. Unfortunately, some levels require too much precision and playing it with the keyboard really isn't a good time. Still, by the end it is satisfying enough to get a pass.

Fluid, vivid, full of life and motion. You feel so FREE! If you enjoy platformers and lovely artwork as well as an awesome soundtrack, this is a perfect, calm, and relaxing experience. The use of shadows and animation is so professionally executed that it's almost impossible to get frustrated if you get stuck. I would definitely put this on your "must play" list.

Probably the first momentum-heavy physics platformer that I've played and actually enjoyed.
