one of the most phenomenal and underrated games from SNKs golden age of fighters, i'd probably put this game as one of my favorites even above games like garou and maybe some of the kofs from around then, this game has its fair share of broken or janky things like a lot of snk fighters around then do but the gameplay is really fun with a power (no gatlings/chain but you do more damage and can do links) and speed (gatlings/chains for big combos but individual moves do less dmg) system choice before you pick a character, both are cool but the speed system with its chain system feels reminiscent to the anime fighters that would come after (guilty gear x etc, i know there was some before too but this game has a more polished feel to it than most of them) and its really fun. the setting is really cool too and graphically the game is probably snks best from this timeframe, the stages are amazing and the character sprites are really cool, it immerses you in pretty well. contrary to what alot of people think this isnt just some samurai shodown clone and it plays pretty much completely differently and stands on its own as a really cool somewhat overlooked game.

This is maybe not my favorite fighting game that I've ever played, but it's definitely the one I'd pull up first if I wanted to show someone how gorgeous sprite art could be and why I feel like we aren't done exploring that space. And by "exploring that space," I do not mean "remaking the same four super nintendo games over and over, but what sprite art can be made to say in context of itself, how it can portray surroundings in a realistic unreality. Technology forcing a limiter on interpretation of modern trends. Meadows of scanlines and oceans of dots.

So I ran through the arcade version of this game and to be fair, was quite surprised by it.

The game is a 2D fighter reminiscent of Street Fighter in almost every regard. It's SNK, so that's to be expected of the time to be honest, as Capcom and SNK were synonymous of each other at the time in the arcades.

As far as the game goes, gameplay is pretty decent, with only some things leaving me scratching my head as I progressed through the arcade. After Stage 3, the difficulty really ramps up a whole lot, which makes it difficult to actually learn anything when the AI is doing max damage combos for each character you face.

The mechanics of the game are underwhelming but interesting, having 2 modes, "Speed" and "Power" - This does as you could expect. Speed gives you access to combos and 1 frame links, whereas power focuses on more poke heavy gameplay and rewards smart use of your specials, outputting heavy damage but punishing you heavier for fucking up. There is also a parry button which I find interesting, but overall honestly, I didn't end up using it all that much. I'm sure better players would have used this to its full advantage, but I am not one of them.

So it plays like the average 2D fighter of the time and graphically the game slaps. The soundtrack is crisp but nothing too memorable. The roster is decent, but no-one really caught my eye on who to play as to be honest. Overall it's generally a decent 2D Fighter. I could have done a lot worse with picking this one to play next.

It may be a bit simple and straight to the point but as far as classic SNK fighters go, there's very few that reach the levels of fun that The Last Blade 2 hits. A roster that runs the gammet of straightforward fighters to crazy weirdos, visuals that have aged pretty well, and a great system that feels good to use (at least if you stick to Power, I'm docking a point off for how obtuse Speed is). Please give it a shot!!

Pretty cool parry system, art is fire of course.

Bonking with Juzho is fun as fuck, great game

SNK's best NeoGeo era fighter.

Might have been 4 stars, but the game includes Hibiki who is so cool that it bumps it for me. Play if you want a fun-but-hard 2d fighter with great atmosphere.

Takes everything the first game did and goes harder. From the golden pair of years where SNK was just firing on all cylinders. The gameplay is solid and fun, the backgrounds are phenomenal pixel art, this game has such a great atmosphere. Cool japan vibes, yet not as cold or deadly as samsho. Stages like a warm sunset over a field, a calming riverbank, or a warmly lit festival give this game a less intense feel that compliments its less intense gameplay compared to samsho. Levels also have these wonderful intro cards that set the mood and it's a banger. I wish this went on to be as big of a series as Samsho did, but i do guess theres only room for one cool japan-themed SNK fighting game series.

Porra SNK, vai se foder com esses hitboxes

I like this way more than the first one, idk anything about the story but the neuch is nice and hibiki is my girl

ALGUÉM ME SEGURA

Não só o jogo tá mais polido visualmente, como a gameplay deu uma boa melhorada mecanicamente, e tem bem mais personagens. A história desenrola interessante, AGORA A OST É BEM MAIS🔥. Sem Palavras, é o Garou de espada.

9.5/10

this game destroyed my wii

i suck at this game but i still love it

Beautiful but restrained, appropriate for a game about the Bakumatsu. It doesn't really open up until you engage with the parry system and Speed/Power dichotomy. Feels like a farewell to an era of arcade fighting game design. Incredible stage backgrounds!

This is pretty much the same game as before, it's obvious SNK realized this game would never hit and that's why we never heard about this anymore.

It seemed pretty fun, and I liked the couple levels I could play of it, but any time I would interact with certain menus, such as the command list and the gallery it would lock up. Not freeze but not load anything either. The animation and actual gameplay felt great but it's frustrating to not be able to learn anything about the combos even if I'm pretty casual and button mashy about it.

Gostei, achei melhor que o primeiro, dá vontade de jogar mais vezes

This game is cool. I wish the Dreamcast port could do VGA, it would make playing it with other people in person a lot easier for me.

setsuna main reporting for duty

The only fighting game I've ever played that feels absolutely perfect in every way. Every single character is sick as fuck.
I'm hoping for at least 2 Last Blade characters in the next CVS/SVC game. My picks would be Awano and Setsuna.
I'm probably going to still be playing this when I'm 80+ years old.

It's like Samsho with combos. Pretty fun but I've only played single player mode. The AI is insanely difficult, especially Mukuro and the final boss.

eu sou uma bosta nisso !!!!!!!!! amo fgs aiaiaai
nunca mais toco vsf

More or less on par with TLB1 but this port was much better! Kojiroh is a really cool character
