It's like an ARPG but without the shitty gameplay (having to click a ton and press number keys)

Fun little game. The core gameplay loop is fun, and I'm excited to see what they'll add as far as future content goes.

Finally, a bullet hell game that moves at my speed!

it's magic survival but with vampires

In an industry where news are dominated by multibillion-dollar buyouts, it's refreshing to see a simple game made with ripped Castlevania assets and sold for three bucks finding success.
Why? Because it's fun.

Video games are great after all.

like a sillier crimsonland that gives you a bunch of really silly weapons and then makes them massively OP because balance is for nerds, this game is $3 , and this game wants you to have fun for a few hours without worrying about optimizing builds or whatever.

This game fucks. Brought me back to when I'd be playing Angband and NetHack or FTL on my dingy macbook pro in the back of my high school history class or during free periods, I would just become completely absorbed in each game's distinct rhythm. I've been going through a spot where I've just felt very unmotivated to play games and then with this I realized that rougelikes are my gaming nirvana, what I'm most attuned to outside JRPG's, and it's kinda given me a new lease on the medium, weirdly enough. Just a really enjoyable experience overall, legit great value for how cheap it is.

Very fun game! For only $3 you get so much content out of it and its very addictive so you will see yourself wanting to play one more game. Highly recommend if you want an addicting Roguelike with very simple controls !

among my backloggd friends, this game has the most pronounced spread of like, 0.5 stars to 4.0 stars. i like this game, but the more i play it the more i kind of cool on it. it's fun in short bursts, but i can't really sink hours into it anymore. all my runs end up looking pretty similar, regardless of starting character. i can tell 5 minutes in whether or not i'm making it through the full 30. i know which powerups work better than others, etc. etc. like, learning the game made it less fun. it's still a nice little timewaster - something to do with my hands while i zone out with a podcast on, something to play in bed on my steam deck until i fall asleep and wake up to a game over screen. but i can't really play it "actively" as much anymore

you know what it is? when you've figured out "ah, this is an unstoppable build. i've already won," you then still have to play the other 20 minutes of a run. and that can feel really good in games like binding of isaac or whatever! it even feels good in this game the first 50 times it happens. but after that, it just gets so predictable and tedious

maybe this is another plateau before i find some other level of enjoyment and progression, but for now it's just a "i can't think of anything else to play" diversion

edit: man, i've flip-flopped on this game so many times. every time i start getting bored, it adds some wild secret level and a bunch of items and a whole other progression thing to do. and then i'm enthralled yet again, this being my "steam deck in bed right before passing out" game of choice. and then it plateaus, gets boring, and then boom- another layer gets added. this game is either 2 stars or 4 stars depending on when in the cycle you ask me

Fazendo uma review rápida e sucinta desse jogo:
Ele custa 5 R$.
Ele vale 5 R$?

Jogo perfeito pra mim pois prende a minha atenção fácil fácil. Se você gosta de gameplay rápida e sem muito compromisso, recomendo de coração esse daqui.

Como es una version 0.2 o asi no le doy puntuacion pero tiene potencial. Bastante relajante

An old-school feeling roguelike both in gameplay and in graphics to the point of having incredibly blatant asset flips lol. It's still in early access so there's not that much content, but for the tiny price tag it is definitely worth a try! Minimalistic but high octane gameplay. I sank a good 10 hours in getting all the achievements and unlocks

The core gameplay loop of this game might be one of the funnest and most addicting of any game. Upgrades, Progressive powerups, unlocks, roguelite stuff, interesting enemies, interesting modes - this game has IMMENSE potential because even as it is right now it is the best $3 I've ever spent lmao.

Sometimes all a game needs is a satisfying loop. I latched on hard and simply schmooved for the next 16 hours.

Played on Linux through Proton.

The logical conclusion of roguelikes.

I've tried 'em all, and usually you get to a point where you've made a build so unkillable you just play until you get bored or the game ramps up in a way where even an unkillable build is overrun.

Vampire Survivors is a very simple roguelike where you pick up and combine items to kill very simple enemies in a very simple map.
It has all the joy of roguelikes: Finding new weapons, combining them in interesting ways, working out which ones are good and bad, and slowly re-evaluating them over time.

Over the course of 30 minutes the game gets steadily more difficult, occasionally throwing waves that seem impossible to beat. But you will beat them, learn something new and get a little further.

Eventually the game is no challenge. You stand still and kill everything; you've solved the game.
As a reward, at the 30 minute mark the Grim Reaper shows up and kills you.
The only way to survive for 30 minutes is to have a broken build and your reward is death.

It's roguelikes as a genre boiled down to its bare essence and sold for about £2.

Under the Newgrounds pastiche is a very bingeable game with a satisfying gameplay loop that can easily eat away an afternoon before you know it.

This indie game is just insane for its price.

time to eat 7 pieces of garlic and kill god

Just surprisingly fun auto-battler/survival mix with some permanent upgrades and a ton of build options. Probably the best $3 I've spent in recent memory. The bar for entry is seriously so low, you should be buying a copy and playing it for yourself instead of reading this review. You might be impressed.

This bird's eye view of the Castlevania we have at home is such an addictive game where your main focus is to make your moves around and dodge incoming enemies. The many weapons you get are earned from gems littered around the map as you slay more and more enemies, which are done automatically. For the $3 asking price for the rogue-like type of game it can certainly get chaotic as time goes on, but by then you're hopefully stacked up w/ enough power to get you by and wipe endless bats at one go.

Rating overall: 1,25/5
Hours of time played: 8h 40m
4/7
Fun: When the game peaks it is really fun. But sadly there are a few obstacles blocking this way. For instance that a run is limited to 30 mins. Why is that? At 25+ min the game is often times the most fun for me, the early game is so boring.
0/6 Story: Not going to count that here.
1/3
Graphics: The graphics are bad. Even for an indie game it fits no theme like other games are doing. I dont expect high end graphics but if its an indie game about vampire atleast give me a dark vibe and scary music.
2/6 Atmosphere: Like I said, there is not much going on here, its just an addictive Roguelike.
3/3
Gameplay: This is where this game really shines. Why you come back run after run. Gathering those upgrades and hoping for the best is what makes this game kinda special.
-5/10* Deduction: Sadly, this game is mostly a ripoff. I dont know if there was a game before that, but Magic Survival (Names are similar too) does the same and is better in any way possible. Better graphics, you can play it mobile, you have way more characters, upgrades and a lot more combinations in the endgame. Also it doesnt stop at 30 mins. The only reason I would ever play Vampire Survivors over Magic Survival is because I played the heck out of Magic Survival.

When Marx wrote about the Opiate of the Masses he was talking about Vampire Survivors (2021)
