THIS GAME IS 2016 PERFECTED, EVERYTHING HERE IS AN IMPROVEMENT FROM THE PREVIOUS GAMES AND THERE IS NOTHING MORE I COULD SAY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CHECK IT OUT!!!

About as fun as the first one. Don't really like the weak point mechanics but I see what id Software was going for. The soundtrack is still as cool as the first one.

just... not really that fun. i did play it on controller, while my friend played on kbm and said it would be way more fun, but i found the combat to be stressful and not very fun. you might like it, just depends on your preference. cool environments tho

If Doom 2016 took FPS gameplay up to 11, then Eternal probably took it up to 15.
Doom Eternal does such a good job at evolving the gameplay of Doom 2016 in every way imaginable while still very much keeping what made it so good in the first place. I am keeping it at the same rating that I gave Doom 2016 though, just because there are enough nitpicks that I can give about it that make it difficult to say that I prefer Eternal to 2016. Still a baller game though.

The greatest FPS of the 21st century has been buried under an avalanche of functionless bloat and baffling game design choices so great, that I don't know how big of a shovel we'd need to get it out.

Best doom game and one of the best FPS games oat

i cant turn my brain off for this one, its engaging and fun.

Improves on the original game in every way possible. The gunplay got a huge upgrade, the map variety was greatly improved, and the story has a lot more thought put into it. A blast from start to finish

A masterclass in First Person Shooters

The absolute perfection of "high-octane gameplay". Doom Eternal is mainly tailored for adrenal highs and fast paced movement while surprisingly avoiding the pitfalls of mindless slaughter shooters through thoughtful resource management, distinguishable enemy types, and sweet spot difficulty levels. Locations are also littered with fun side quests like skins, collectibles, and secrets that provide an additional layer of depth aside from the campaign.

People complain about the logs being a cheap substitute for proper story telling, but the world's environment proved interesting enough for me to read them without feeling bored. That is based on my personal preferences, however, and players not as immersed in the underlying narrative may find the main quest satisfying still. This being the first Doom and high intensity shooter I played made this experience especially memorable and a staple in my catalog that I would find myself replaying in the future.

The gameplay is so fun! Movement is fluid and everything ties together perfectly.

I LOVE TEARING THROUGH HORDES OF ENEMIES AND SENDING MY DOPAMINE LEVELS THROUGH THE ROOF (do not trust me with any addictive substances)

i can't play doom 2016 anymore

Now the voices in my head are playing the music, I think they wanna start a band :)

(Played on both PS5 and PC.)

Pros:
- Amazing soundtrack. Mick Gordon gets a ton of well-deserved credit for his compositions, but don't downplay David Levy and Andrew Hulshult's tracks for the DLCs, either. They did a stellar job.
- The level design is solid and the environments are beautifully designed. They enhance the scale of the game by a huge margin.
- The combat loop is demanding to learn, but addicting to master. It gives the entire game a level of replayability that few games have these days. The skill ceiling is insanely high - just check out any montage on YouTube. This point alone makes the game worth the asking price.
- Basically every aspect is highly polished. You can tell the devs put a huge amount of care and effort into everything. There are bugs, but the devs pay attention to community feedback and communicate a lot about what they're working on and the reasoning behind it. (Shout out to Hugo Martin.)

Cons:
- Multiplayer (Battlemode) is....kind of weird. I don't really know how to feel about it. Sometimes it's a ton of fun but sometimes it's frustrating. Maybe I'm just bad.
- No snapmap, but that was never really my speed anyway. Feels like I should point it out for those who liked it in Doom 2016.
- Storytelling and presentation aren't as memorable or special as they were in Doom 2016. I still think Eternal is the vastly superior game, though.

Four more points in conclusion:

1. This game is insanely fun if you actively pay attention to what it tries to teach you. Many people were turned off by it because, unlike Doom 2016, you can't just spam the super shotgun at everything and win. You have to think about the best approach for every combat encounter.

2. The DLCs (The Ancient Gods Part 1 and 2) are mandatory to play if you want the best content the game has to offer, and if you want the conclusion of the story. This could be considered a con for some, but the content is so dope that I don't care about spending more money for it.

3. This game is way better than The Last of Us Part 2.

4. Come join us and enter the fun zone.

This could easily be a 5/5 if you view the base game and both DLCs as a whole cohesive package.
