Loved the shit out of FALLOUT show, and thought give FO4 another try at least this time I managed to play a complete hour of it.
the gameplay seems fine ig, but it do need a lot of quality-to-life improvements, and Fuck Bethesda Creation engine, mods do make it look somewhat good, story and other shit couldn't care less, but its funny when u choose rage-out options lol.

Not quite skyrim but has its own charm that managed to hook me into its world for dozens of hours

I have a very hard time reviewing this game because similar to its cousin Skyrim the open world is expansive and there is so much to do, in the same fashion as most bethesda games you can kinda just walk into a direction and you'll find something to do. What makes this game different from its counterparts is that the issues with the game overshadow the open world. I think the most glaring issue with Fallout 4 is the settlement system, settlements suck to play with and they aren’t self-sufficient at all, which makes it feel kind of impossible to leave them for too long, also the crafting mechanics, while fundamentally okay take weird resources to get, and you can't buy most of the resources so you have to go out in the world, but they don’t tell you places to find them and it just sucks it feels like there’s no way to upgrade your weapons in a fun way. This isn’t the biggest issue with 4 though, the biggest issue with this game is that the rewards for each mission just aren’t much so I never had any motivation to play a single level besides intrinsic, which only goes so far. By the end of my time with Fallout before I eventually never picked it up again, I would end up playing one mission, not feeling rewarded at all for doing so, then going to my settlement before realizing I couldn’t do anything there, then I’d just turn the game off for the day. This game is really disappointing, and it is one of the last bethesda games I’d recommend to anyone.

Something about the story feels soulless compared to 3 and New Vegas. Gameplay is great though.

1 step forward, 5 steps back
A much worse RPG than Fallout 3 and New Vegas, basically boiled down to nothing but a shooter pretending to be an RPG

Acabei dropando, a história não me prendeu.

This is overall a great game and a damn fun time even for me having to play it unmodded on a PS4. But if a game isn’t good without mods then the game’s just not good, this game is great and fun but unfortunately lacks a lot of depth. The kind of depth that I specifically love Fallout for.

First off the RPG mechanics have been greatly scaled down with customization being more simple, less creative and unique to your character(s). I really love Fallout’s RPG mechanics, I remember for example dying multiple times in the Temple of Trials in Fallout 2 so I made a new character over and over, reading through everything until I figured out how significant each perk was. Here the game has basically merged perks and skills together for a more straightforwarded path which kinda stops you from making a specific build. There really isn’t a lot to make your character more unique than your friend’s except in looks and what factions you choose.

Speaking of factions, they’re kinda boring here. Don’t get me wrong they’re still fun to play around with, specifically BoS now being one of my favorite renditions of them in a Fallout game so far, easily my favorite from the East coast. But then you have factions such as the Railroad which are just so incredibly boring with the most unfun missions. And then you got the Minutemen, they’re basically the “good guys” but my god Preston will keep nagging to you all the damn time, at some point I just think “Fuck the settlements”.

And on the topic of settlements, this system is just kind of okay. I think it’s okay fun building your settlements, companions coming over (the companions are great in this game btw) and the whole making your own. Managing it though with Raiders coming a lot of times, while kinda cool the first few times, isn’t as fun later on.

Lastly we have the hugely downgraded dialogue system, long gone are the great replies with clever writing you could say before, now instead we have 4 options; “Yes”, “Sassy Yes”, “No” and “Huh?”. They also abbreviate all the options, mostly into 3 words, so one thing that may sound like something, may be something entirely different just because it looked that way. I really think this is a downgrade compared to the previous games, I love the writing of these games and that’s mostly comes from the dialogue. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

These are mostly my gripes about this game and while it seems like I might be very negative, I have barely covered any of my positives. It’s just easier to talk about why I don’t like something, rather than why I like something.

7/10

Probably the last decent game Bethesda has made before releasing Slopfield. This game is really when you start seeing how dated their engine is and the start of their gameplay loop kind of falling of so to speak. I still thought it was an enjoyable playthrough but it definitely is very flawed.

HOLY CRAP! I wish I had played this amazing game sooner! I absolutely loved this game, and felt the pacing was perfect! The mechanics, and gun play are simple but amazing, and you always have just enough ammo to keep you looting throughout. The game was perfectly balanced, and definitely one of the best games ever made!

One of my favourite games of all the time. A lot of things to do and amazing stories.

If there's one thing you can unequivocally give Fallout 4, it's that its opening is fantastic. Beginning in your idyllic house as your character admires their newborn, you're suddenly whisked off to the nearby Vault the moment the bombs drop on Boston. Cryogenically frozen for centuries, you wake to find your partner murdered and your baby stolen, prompting you to burst out into the post-apocalyptic wasteland to search for him.

At least, in theory that's what happens. The problem with Fallout 4 is that it has a brilliant core idea for its story but then Bethesda remembered they wanted to make an open-world RPG and so once you're out of the Vault any impetus or narrative push goes out of the window and instead you're asked to believe that a grieving and angry parent in this situation would just blow off their quest to go play construction in the yard instead. As a narrative, Fallout 4 is surprisingly shaky.

It is at least an improvement as an FPS over Fallout 3, with far more robust gunplay and a solid customization and upgrade system that lets you make horrendously overpowered guns if you want to put the busywork in. Fallout 4 also pushes its creation aspect quite hard, with multiple points in the main quest expecting you to drop everything and help build towns. I'm sure this is great for some but I personally hated it; the interface is finicky and the constant poke to improve various ratings of your townships is tiring.

There are moments when Fallout 4 is good, I promise, but it all comes in the minute-to-minute gameplay. As a world to explore and plunder, the Commonwealth is gorgeous and fun but whenever you try to engage with it in any way other than that the experience starts to crumble.
