Remake bonito, remake formoso, remake bem feito!

as someone who played the original game and was a fan of it i had fun revisiting it again after all that time got me feeling a little nostalgic in the first chapters, i think they did a good job changing some parts for the sake of the story and adding the parry mechanique however they missed some parts like the lack of ambience/atmosphere sounds.

Melhorou em tudo do original e é uma aula de fazer Remakes.

Yeah okay I get the praise. This game was incredible from start to finish, great gameplay, likeable characters, creative areas and fun boss fights. What more do you want from a resident evil ?

Resident Evil 4 Remake
I'll start this off by saying that when I bought this game during the Halloween sale last year, I thought to myself: "There is no way that this will be better than the original, but it's still Resident Evil 4 so it has to be at least decent". What I did not expect at the time was the fact that this game would not only become my favorite Resident Evil game, but one of my Favourite games EVER. RE4R manages to capture the charm of the original and improve upon it, the horror is better, the gameplay is straight up orgasmic and the characters still feel like their original sleves, but with a modern coat of paint. The biggest improvements in the character department were by FAR Luis and Ashley. I liked Luis in the original but he was in too little of the game for me to really care about him, and Ashley in the original was just straight up annoying. The Remake gives Luis way more screen time and makes him a really compelling character, and this time around, Ashley is not only and enjoyable character, but she is actually funny and she has good chemistry with Leon. The Villains became even better, especially Krauser, that tiger belly splitting freak, his constant back and forward bickering with Leon was great and his boss fight is the best one in the game. One character that I think was slightly worse in the Remake was Salazar, but his awesome boss fights makes up for it. RE4R also somehow manages to improve the pacing of an already extremely well paced game by cutting some sections that were in the original, and inserting them in the Ada dlc. The new voice actors are great, including Ada, even if she was given some strange direction (the DLC fixes this, and the new VA is great in it). Time to talk about the man himself, Leon S. FUCKING Kennedy. I know that a lot of people prefer the original RE4 Leon, but I can't say the same. While the original Leon was funnier, I think it was a bit too much and the cheese was just too big sometimes, this new version of the character strikes a perfect balance between action hero badass and goofy socially awkward dude.
Overall thoughts
In my opinion, Resident Evil 4 Remake manages to obtain the ultimate balance between action and horror, while also having the best pacing in the whole RE series. 10/10

I love Resident Evil 4 not to be confused with Resident Evil 4.

- Played in April 2023

Probably the most polished game out of every other game from the franchise

A superlative remake. Required reading for any horror fan.

would play this over bingo any day

Game Finished In 2024 #12:

I think Resident Evil is cool. It's a series that contains a lot of things that appeal to me specifically. Despite only having ever played 1 Remake to completion, I was fully sold from it and my experience with RE5. I had tried to play RE4 OG last year, in anticipation of the remake, but I stopped at around Castle when I realized I had taken the wrong difficulty and would have had to replay all of Village on easy to get back to where I was. Additionally, it seemed like every time I was annoyed at a bit of the game, I found out that it was removed or otherwise changed for the better in Remake. So I quit and decided to wait until I could just play Remake instead, and I'm very glad I did, because Remake is good as fuck.

To start: yeah, basically every issue I had with Village and what I played of Castle was fixed in Remake. Without a full game playthrough to compare it to, I can't speak for later Castle or Island, but I'm sure the same applies there. The game feel is just as good as if not better than OG, too. It took a bit to adjust to the more modern control style but when I did it worked really well. Significantly helping matters is the implementation of gyro aim, which I am an ardent advocate of. Being able to make minute adjustments makes shooting even more natural, without significantly breaking things like the Wii version's god aiming.

The most obvious change Remake makes is in presentation. Luckily, despite what some clip compilation youtubers posited, the game managed to preserve the soul of the original quite well while updating the graphics, sound, and characters. The remake looks great, runs great, the new voice cast [EXCEPT FOR ADA] is great, and all the character's personalities remain intact, and at times expanded. Leon still makes a lot of great quips often, goofy shit still happens on the regular, and the plot still has a lot of the proper RE charm to it. Ashley getting an entire segment to prove she's capable only to get hit with the damsel stick stings, but otherwise it works. A lot of the most interesting changes, however, are in the gameplay. The knife has been reworked, allowing you to parry and use it as a sort of get out of jail button in dire situations, in addition to the normal uses. It has a durability feature, which helps make deciding when to use it interesting. Durability systems are notoriously hard to manage, but the well done pacing of the game ensures you have access to a way to restore it fairly frequently. Ammo crafting is now a feature, with gunpowder and resources being used to make ammo and bombs. Treasures have been expanded, allowing you to combine gems for optimal combinations. As a small complaint, I wish that red gems were not so overcentralizing. Matching colors on treasures with three or less slots gives you the best bonus, so if there are any treasures with more than one shape, you have to be hoarding your rubies and red beryls for them. Sidequests have also been expanded, giving you access to a whole separate shop menu for spending a new currency. These changes expand the game overall, and make it a better experience.

In terms of flaws, I only have a few and they could be very easily remedied upon a replay. Of these, the biggest one is that,I think ammo management is kind of dire. The game modifies ammo drops based on a factors, and this can make you really feel droughts. This isn't inherently an issue, it is the core of survival horror, after all, but the game has so many different weapon types and I found it annoying to constantly get handgun ammo, to the point all of my non-handgun weapons had to be relegated to only the biggest threats, and 90% of my playtime was spent firing exactly the Red9. Even still, encounters found me nearly running out of that too. Crafting, while adding an enjoyable dynamic, also felt like it is the ONLY consistent way to get ammo for some weapon types. The loss of the free ammo refill upon upgrading a weapon's ammo will be sorely missed, too. On a replay, I'll likely invest more in the Bolt Thrower. There are also some annoying segments, like the fight with Ramon, that I will be more prepared for knowing they're coming.

RE4R is a really good remake of an industry changing game. It kept all of the things I liked about OG while improving it in the areas that mattered. The best part about it is that the original, if you prefer it, is still available everywhere, which is a lesson I wish more devs, including Capcom themselves, took. Please let me buy an RE1-3 PS1 collection.

such a good remake bro oh my god. i love the original so much and have played it way too many times. the remake is so faithful and the parry mechanic is just chefs kiss.

missed one blue medallion due to the map not being clear so this review will miss one star out of spite.

Everything you could want in a remake. Overhauled visuals. Modernized controls. Expanded story. Respect for the original.

"Where's everyone going? Bingo?"

my opinion is Popular now unlike destroy mid. Upvotes to the LEft !

So good and I love Leon <3. I have never played the original so I can't really comment on anything like that. But from my first experience with it, it was a lot of fun and I understand why people highly regard it. I have played Biohazard, Village, and 2 remake before this and it felt like it belonged (like they didn't feel different but rather from the same series and that's a good thing). I think this is a game everyone needs to experience because of how good it is and it is simply a classic. I am glad they re-made it so that I can finally experience this legendary game.

What a ride! I've never been one for horror games, but remember having a decent time playing a part of Resi 4 on the Wii. After thinking initially I wasn't going to be able to handle it (that opening section kicked my ass), I ended up having an amazing time playing through the Resi 4 remake. The right level of spooks for me, and I intend to go back and play some of the other games from the series.

A fantastic horror action adventure game with great moment-to-moment gameplay and fantastic gun play

I opened up trending and gave a half star to one of the first games I saw
You may now laugh

No es mi Re favorito pero en su estilo de juego cumple! La mejora grafica se agradece.

my white savior always knows what to do in times of struggle

lovvvve it but need to finish it

a lot of fun, almost out stayed it's welcome but I really enjoyed this one
